Pfffft La Tratt.

Best pizza in Adelaide has always been Marcellina's on Hindley St.

Well it was for about 20 years prior to 2002...and I assume it hasn't changed much since then.

And yes, it does compare to some of the best places in Melbourne, such as La Porcetta.
Yeah, I was disappointed with la Tratt. If I am to get delivered pizza, Marcellinas are the only one for me. They are pretty good.

The best Pizza I have had was at Universal Pizza on Lygon Street in Carlton.

Went to an Italian resteraunts last week, for a birthday

1 Pizza - 23.oo
1 glass of water (HALF FILLED) - 4.4o

  • Pizza was small
  • Pizza had pita bread base
  • Pizza had almost nothing on it
  • Pizza tasted off...and like it was fried
  • Pizza was TINY
  • Pizza was cold
  • Water was hot
  • And the glass was small and half filled.
And everyones meal was like that.

Money isn't an issue for us but we were outraged at what we were served and I am telling you I would much rather eat at my resteraunt with the outdoor woodfire oven, big thick pizzas, fresh generous toppings, FREE WATER FFS, and good music and so on.

That was the worst dining experiance ever....and I mean it.

yeah we were pretty disappointed with a certain restaurant that resides on a windy hill for charging around $5 a bottle for water. no wonder they kept filling our glasses all night. $80 worth of water is a bit steep, i could almost fill one of my rainwater tanks for that price

Steep? That's an F'ing outrage!!

yeah we had no idea until we got home because my dad was paying for everyone. he rang later and told us, we never got round to writing them an abusive email

I went to go there on Wednesday night. The place was absolutely packed! Was spilling out onto the sidewalk.

Will have to wait for another time.

Yeah. Sounds about right. Bookings are essential unless you get there fairly early. Will be worth it once you get in! :thumbsu:

Yeah...Windy Point has great food but its ridiculously over priced. Was it Santa Vittoria water or something?

may have been, all i can remember is the waiter asking if we water and he mentioned two types one being spring. we took the spring i guess assuming it wouldn't cost seeing as the other option sounded expensive. i remember the waiter opening bottles of water all night and filling our glasses and never thought much of it. As a waiter in my young days i would never open anything without first asking the customer if they wanted it. i have since heard numerous people complain about being charged for water there without being told there was a cost.

Got a decent method for a Pizza base?

Hahah, I had to do that on Saturday night, because the night before I tried gaining weight by eating to much chocolate and threw up in front of every one in the place so they wanted me to do things where people couldn't see me!

But yes...I do.
But i don't know....if I should be telling you.
I'll ask my Nonno and i might PM you.

LOL!

But...If you really want a hella good pizza, IT NEEDS to be cooked in a woodfire oven... it just gives it an authentic taste. :)

so they wanted me to do things where people couldn't see me!
Well that's understandable. If your appearance makes your relatives cry, imagine what it must do to people who don't know you!

hahaha!

Just joking Hoffy, I am sure you look fine.

Got a decent method for a Pizza base?

Make your own its easy. 1 kg of flour, about a cubic inch of fresh yeast, a couple of cups of warm water to melt your yeast in, a bit of salt, a bit of olive oil, mix it all together, knead if for 5 to 10 minutes. Put it in a bowl, cover it up, keep it in a cool place and let it rise for 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

You will have enough dough for about 3 pizzas, if you like them thin or 2 with a bit left over if you like them thick. Spend 2 or 3 minutes rolling it. If you use a pizza stone ,about 30 to 35cm diameter, then preheat the stone for 20 minutes in the oven at 200 deg Celsius. Thrown on your ingredients and you should have your first pizza ready in 10 to 15 minutes.
