It did have an ending that didnt feel too much like an ending, but at the same time it is the middle movie if the talk of a trilogy is to be believed.

Harley Quinn would be a good villian. Have her get corrupted by the Joker while he is locked away. that way he still has a major influence on things without even being seen. If anything, that will just further emphasise how Batman will never be free of him. She is the only one who I can think of that would be even remotely freaky comparitivily. Alot of the other villians just wouldnt be.... right.

I saw this mentioned on the Batman on Film blogs and it has me pondering also. Who were the five people Dent killed? We get to see 3 and do we just not see the other two or something?

Soooo much build-up, I deliberately went to a morning session so there wouldn't be any/many people there to spoil it.

And I'm disappointed. Wasn't anything near what it's been talked up as. As a superhero flick its very good, but overall? nah, not even close. Top 20 maybe.

All that said, thought Ledger was rather good.

Ok saw it today.
First of all I am only a casual fan and generally not a fan of superhero movies in general except the original batman and superman films. I also thought that BAtman Begins was a rather average film at best and have no idea what you all saw in it.
This film on the other hand is great but is nothing special. Heath Ledger was brillaint and made the film what it is. Everyone while solid was completly blown out of the water so much so that when Ledger is not on screen you just wait for him to come back and blow you away again. It is a pity that no one can even come close to Ledger as by half way through I was rooting for the Joker to win the battle and was disappointed when he didn't blow up the ferries. This is Ledgers film all the way and if the academy don't give him the supporting acting oscar something is terribly wrong. 4/5 I'm going to give it, a vast improvement on BB but one of the best movies ever not even close. I watched United 93 tonight as well and if you want to see a real powerful film that beats this film in spades

I thought it was the 2 corrupt cops, the mob boss and his driver, and the 5th body was Dent himself. What Gordon actually said was that 5 bodies could not be swept under the carpet, not that Dent had killed 5 people.

Saw this movie a couple of days back. Took a bit of concentration to stay with the plot but it was a pretty good movie overall. I would have to see it again, because I could not help but focus on the Joker and look for any sign of Heath Ledger in there .... I found none. Awesome performance, maniacal with a very dark humour ... perfect. I am just hoping the academy don't look at this as a cartoonish superhero blockbuster jazzed up by special effects and instead look at Ledger's portrayal as a deeply disturbed psychopath/anarchist for what it was.

Maggie Gyllenhall is an interesting casting. More believable as a character than Katie Holmes was but less believable as the desirable object of affection for two men. Looked okay in some scenes but very unattractive in others. She is different looking for sure but I thought she looked quite good in Stranger Than Fiction.

good thread lads. is it just me or was harvey dent kinda wasted with only beeen given half of the film as twoFace?

Yes, especially since they killed him off. Leaves out one of Batman's best foes. Surely could have killed off the Penguin somehow. Man I hate that dude.

I have a theory (well a nerdish hope really) that he's not really dead.

Maybe the fall killed Harvey Dent, leaving only Two Face. Sets up the third one with Batman having to fight the city who think he's a cop killer whilst trying to save his friend Harvey. The idea of Two Face is that Batman needs to believe he can save Harvey, because if he can't save Harvey from Two Face then how can he save Bruce Wayne from Batman.

Well once again, The Dark Knight has managed to stay atop of IMDB's Top 250 list, it has a staggering 9.5/10 from 104,906 votes.

Seen it last night, and thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

I thought the plot was great. The whole movie to me was set-up for Harvey Dent to become Two-Face, and they did that perfectly.

Heath Ledger as the Joker.....Wow! That is easily the best villianous performance I've ever seen. He was phenomenal in the role.

I don't believe Two-Face has been "killed off". He'll be back for the thrid one hopefully. There are rumours floating around that The Riddler will be used in the third one, too. I like The Riddler, but I'd rather see Black Mask cast along with Two-Face in the third installment :thumbsu:

yep, what do you reckon it'll end up?

I never thought it would be top 10 for more than a day or two, but with the way it is going, it looks like it could be top 10 for a least a few months. I'd say it will nestle into the top 50 somewhere over the next few years.

you and i think almost EXACTLY alike!!

I thought BB was about a 6.5-7/10 and thought TDK was about 7.5-8/10. I don't think TDK was a 'vast improvement' but certainly better then BB in my mind. Also on the Ledger point, we agree exactly.

I was always suspect to the talk about Heath Ledger because a) he is Australian and b) he has passes away, so I thought everyone was just pumping up his tyers like we do to all Australians.

However, I saw it on Wednesday and he was ****ing great! Loved the character! I give the movie 8/10.

Honestly couldn't say, so far The Godfather and Shawshank Redemtion have about 2,000,000 more votes, but at the rate TDK is going it will surpass that within a month, normally movies go down a bit after the hype, and as usual people overating movies by just giving 10's across the board, but personally I can see why people would give this a 10, so I can't see it slipping out of the Top 10 for a long while.

Heres a cool thought:

Perth needs something crazy and out-there something to put in on the map other than a bell tower. How about this. Rio De Janero has amassive statue of Jesus, New York has amassive statue of Liberty, and somewhere theres a massive statue of Michael Jackson. Well how about a tribute to Heath Ledger in the form of a Masive statue of the Joker! How cool would that be!
Me being a nerd-----> That'll...put a smile on our face, if you think its stupid...why so serious? lol, man i suck.

Potential spoilers

I just came back from seeing the movie tonight. I really liked Batman Begins and the Dark Night is a couple classes above that.

Heath Ledger played a great role as the joker, but I thought the person who played Harvey Dent also did a great job. I found it intriguing how Harvey fell to the dark side. It certainly was more convincing than how Anikan from the star wars movies fell to the dark side.

Also how the characters were written was very well done. While we can see the origin of how two face became to be they kept the origin of the Joker as a mystery.

The movie shows the different sides of morality in people. In the villians you obviously have the Joker who has no reason for his actions other than "just to watch the world burn", there are the mob bosses who's motive is power and money for thier actions and there is Harvey Dent who loses sight of what is right and wrong and confuses justice with revenge.

Really?

A perfect 10?

I honeslty preferred Batman Begins, and by a fair margin. Ledger was brilliant, but it just didnt do it for my like BB.... Perhaps I expected too much after all the hype.
