We've known for years this will be a 2nd half of the decade release. We won't get solid news for another year or 2 at least.

It's Bethesda and RPG nerds, of course there's pressure, it's been 12 years since Skyrim came out so there will be plenty of neckbeards keen for a new TES6. Witcher 4 potentially distracts some for a bit, but after Starfield's reception there will be plenty of sharpened pitchforks at the ready for the next Elder Scrolls and Fallout titles. With the continuous development of Elder Scrolls Online there probably isn't a whole lot of pressure on Bethesda to make the next standalone Elder Scrolls game. I'm not bored of ESO yet and I still boot up Skyrim and even Oblivion on my PS3 occasionally.
It might even end up being a next-gen release (hopefully cross-platform unlike Starfield). I can wait.
I guess the surprising thing with the delay is the timeframes between the previous games (with 4-6 years being about standard until the most recent iteration):It's Bethesda and RPG nerds, of course there's pressure, it's been 12 years since Skyrim came out so there will be plenty of neckbeards keen for a new TES6. If it's due end of the decade it'll likely end up on the future Xbox <insert next dumb name> console, and chug along on the current verison.

What fool pre-maturely started this discussion?
I kinda get that. I get the impression Bethesda are a company that are basically resting on their laurels that they know whatever kinda game they put out, it's going to sell well. They don't seem to push any sort of boundries and their games are largely impresonal cut-and-paste jobs.I really hope they use The Witcher 3 as their template for a lot in TESVI, but in particular the quests. There's just no comparison between W3 and Skyrim. Every TES since Morrowind has gone backwards in this respect imo, and you could even extend that to Fallout 4 in many ways. I do have faith though seeing as they have taken more than enough time to look at other games in the genre now, of which there was a distinct lack of in the past, and learn from them.
Hopefully the reaction to Fallout 76 and Starfield causes a more cautious and considered effort.I kinda get that. In saying that, I'll probably end up getting and playing the game, haha. I don't think I'm going to be blown away by it.
Hey, it's no Star Citizen, is it?Welcome to the 7th anniversary of this thread.

Every Star Citizen Controversy So Far
As Star Citizen crosses the $350 million fundraising mark, we look back on the project's various controversies over the years.www.denofgeek.com
I think TES would be one of the last games they'd ever cancel, but I think there's a lot of doubt over whether the game will be any good lolWith the latest round of job losses and game cancellations at Microsoft (and by extension Bethesda), is there any doubt now regarding the future of this game?
TES is too big a franchise to just suddenly kill off, it would be like Rockstar canning GTA. I haven't read too much about the cuts, but as usual the perpetually outraged people online are going to blow everything out of proportion.I think TES would be one of the last games they'd ever cancel, but I think there's a lot of doubt over whether the game will be any good lol

And they will still be using the same engine.------
I wish studios wouldn't announce things so early. At this rate those of us over 30 will only see 2-3 more ES and Fallout games in our lifetimes.
