Towards the latter part of last season ( and for a few years now) there has been alot of talk about how we lacked a really tough argressive type of player who could intimitate opposition clubs... I think that Cam Cloke potentially is the guy we have been crying out for. He loves nothing more than to smash into opposition players and loves to back it up with plenty of verbal and he can given his size and presence. I can still remember in his first season the shot of him verballing the oppostion ruckman before the centre bounce.. I loved it at the time and wished we had a guy who was that agressive. Cam is still only 21 and is a big kid already, hopefully his body can hold up and he can be that bash and crash type impact player who can put fear into opposition clubs.

We have Waite, Fevola, Bentick, Kennedy and Cloke who are big bodies who can do the hard work.

Throw in Scotland, Betts, Bannister, Houlihan and we have a few boys who like to have a go :)

If cam cloke is gonna play in the ruck he'll have to use his aggression to make up for his height. he's a big body and even if he's used in defense he has the size and aggression to be quite intimidating. If he gets a game in the seniors it'll be interesting to see where he plas, but regardless he'll have to be very agressive, which is something he could potentially do a lot better then most of the players on our list.

speaking of big bodies i saw fish out on the town last night and he looked absolutly massive. and he always looks small compared to all the other players, so some of these guys in the afl must be absolute muscle machines!

You'd want to get him 10 times fitter than he was at Coll - looked like a hippo

Cam needs to get his form to an appropriate level before his "enforcer" tag has any influence over the game.
Exactly, no point being an enforcer if that's all he can do.

I'm hoping that he does play good football, has been given a second chance when he probably didn't deserve one (not ahead of Jason anyway), but it'd be great for him to actually play some good footy AND provide the hardness that Zantuck would have. He'll have to be much fitter than what he was with the Pies, though.

I dont really think bentick has that big of a body...

And I think that Houlihan is a little on the soft side at the ball...

It's been years since the blues has had someone who will try and protect the little fellas more than just a push and shove match...

What would have happened after Scotland got cleaned up in the match against the filth if we still had someone like the hyphen in the team...

I can guarantee you that someone from their side would have been carted off on a stretcher and the hyphen would have sore knuckles again and been up for a trip to the tribunal.

We need someone who is willing to go the extra yard to sort out people who are trying to sort out our players.

If Cam Cloke can bring that little bit of hardness into our game again we would be sorted.

Mind you, Bannister sorted out Holland with a nice little jumper punch :D

Problem is, none of those have the required agro to be an enforcer, except for Fevloa, and he is the LAST person we want as an enforcer, playing at full forward. Scotland possibly, but doesnt play in an enforcers position. Bannister isnt even good enough to hold his place in the side either. Another Franchina type would certainly be nice trough. If Cam can sort out his playing attitude and form, he could be worth a shot.

I actually think quite the opposite. Whenever I have seen AFL players when I have gone out I have been disappointed in how small they are. The epitome of this was Barry Hall who I thought would be the exception. He looked quite lean IMO and was easily 10 kgs lighter than me even though he is probably half an inch taller.

I agree, but he certainly has improved in this area over the past 12 months. Looking for a big year from Hoops in '07.

Yes he did improve a little over this season, but he needs to really step up to bat next year or I think that despite all his talent, he will be deemed surplus to requirements.

I'd also like to see him play in the forward half a bit more in '07. Let him use his skills up there, and rotate him through the midfield when it is his turn.

As for a surplus, IMO there are quite a few players who would be ahead of Hoops who are coming up to crunch years in '07.

Cam Cloke is not a enforcers elbow.

We need a Picket or someone similar, their attack on the footy is second to none. What they also have is that demented look in their eyes, ala Fraser Brown, Worsfold, Scotts etc. These guys were always on the front foot and would never back down.

Cam may have the size but he does not have the qualities of a true enforcer, although I like the look of Joe Anderson: any kid that can win the Darwin B&F has got to be tough.

Has been used mainly to cover gaps in the team for the last 3-4 years- in defence until 2006, then spent the second half of this year doing tagging jobs and did very well at it, so could line up anywhere in 2007, depending on what gaps need to be filled. Would be a long way from being surplus to requirements.

I think Joe should be given an early run in that enforcer role. He could do it quite well. His pedigree is that way inclined, his family from Grandad down were renowned for their aggressive play.
As for Darwin footy being physically tough and agressive, it was once, last few seasons have seen plenty of kids playing seniors with only a touch of the former agro seen. This is much like the AFL, we used to have tough footy, but the days of Rhys-Jones, Carmen, etc are gone in the AFL, as it is in Darwin footy.
But getting back to the idea of Joe the Enforcer, yes, he can do it. In time he will be bigger and more able to play that role also. Give him a try, he will do well.

Murphy3 - Adam Bentick is tough as nails and he has a massive upper body. He has massive cannons.

Pound 4 Pound, he is the strongest guy at the club my a mile, and other players will back this up all the way.

Go the new Number 7!!!!!!!:D

AB is a tank, benchpresses the most at the club, 150kg.
Wouldn't say he is an enforcer though, but much like Kade Simpson and Wiggins, his attack on the ball is 2nd to none.

As far as enforcers go, keep an eye out for Cain Ackland and Josh Kennedy, any player that is willing to get between the ball and any of these 2 will wake up sore the next day.

Outsider to watch will be Walker. Walker is a very level headed footballer, knows when to dish out a few hits and when not to. Last year a few players tried to push him around and soon found out that he wasn't lil Walker anymore. Croad, Robbo and Medhurst tried doing it and came off 2nd best several times.
