What we can realistically expect from the team in the final 10 weeks of this season?

From a team perspective, we have five winnable games left. I want to see us win at least two but hopefully three of those and finish the year off with some respect. I don't think we are capable of winning four, which would put us out of PP territory (please don't turn this into a tanking thread).

Brisbane @ GABBA
West Coast @ MCG
Port Adelaide @ MCG
Geelong @ SKILLED
Sydney @ MANUKA
Richmond @ MCG
North Melbourne @ ETIHAD
Fremantle @ MCG
Carlton @ TD
St Kilda @ MCG

I also want this mini-slump to come to an end (26 goal combined losing margin in the last three weeks), and get some of that competitiveness back.

From an individual perspective, here are some names and my hopes/expectations:

Grimes - Continue to assert himself across half back, putting his body on the line, and maybe getting a taste of the midfield later in the year.

Morton - Let him run free on the wing and sharpen his attacking game. Creative goalkicking midfielders are extremely valuable in any side.

Watts - Carefully monitor his game time, physical status and confidence levels. He is our most valuable future asset.

Sylvia - Keep fit, play it smart, and do what he has been doing these last five week. He has superstar written all over him.

McLean - Keep working hard this season and try to develop a better fitness base next season. Don't write him off yet.

Meesen - Not sure what his current state is, but he does have a future at this level. Would like to see him again before the year ends.

Only listed a handful of players there, but there are heaps that I am excited to see how they go in the next three months.

What do you hope/expect from the team and from certain individuals?

Just a comment on Meesen, he was very impressive prior to his injury. As such, I think he deserves another chance to show the club what he can contribute going forward, irrespective of whether he plays again this year.

Other than that, I agree with your assessments of those players. Personally, I have questions surrounding Bartram, Bell and Spencer. I'm not sure they have what it takes to make it. Of those three, Bell certainly has the ability, but seems to lack confidence and any form of spatial awareness.

I'm not concerned about wins, just performances. I want to see the continued progression of our youth, and some closer results than the last couple of weeks.

Weagles is a certain win. Smart professional tankers.

Port Adelaide should've too much talent for us and they should just fold if we beat them.

Richmond should be all guns blazing after that rd 4 shemozzle. Winable for MFC but surely the Tiges have something in that belly.

North with Brencess Harvey back should rack this up. 30-70.

We should beat Freo at the G.

WCE, Freo and one of North or Richmond. Won't be bothered if we lose both North or Richmond.

Meesen out for the year and needs a big year in the gym. Needs to be strong and hold his ground. His upper/core strength wasn't up to scratch this year. He might be a smoky with some more strength.

Would like to see Jake get some games later.

Buckley needs games. His got a lot of flaws to iron out.

Maric needs to get some consistency in his game.

Tommy Mac and Strauss to play well for Casey and push for some late games.

Sylvia to finish the year strong and top 5. AND RELOAD NEXT YEAR.

Buckley - Get on the ****ing park damn it

Aussie - For the love of God please get back this season

Spencer - Stop ****ing hurting yourself

Strauss - Dominate at Casey and bloody get the call up, I want too see you play in the red and blue this season

Rest of the team - Stop shaving your heads, I don't want too see 22 skin heads every week

Our winnable games, and chance to win them IMO:
West Coast @ MCG - 80%
Port Adelaide @ MCG - 50%
Richmond @ MCG - 40%
North Melbourne @ ETIHAD - 35%
Fremantle @ MCG - 50%

We will end up with around 3-4 wins i reckon.

My understanding is that shaving your head is one of the punishments for breaking team rules.

One of the punishment choices.

The others were driving the red and blue car that says "I play for Melbourne" or something like that, Bate was photographed in the which was in the Herald Sun. Another one was carrying a doll or something around for a week if I remember correctly.

There was another one that I can't remember though.

Well i'd like to see the remaining 10 weeks broken into 4-3-3 week periods, where fringe players basically get 3/4 games to show something for next year. So guys like Bell, Wheatley, Bartram, Dunn, Newton etc. get games in the best position before being shuffled. We've had a few weeks now where a lot of changes are made, so i think we need to give guys a period of games to get some form.

Watts - Should get max 5 games, just need to give him enough exposure to the highest level, without pushing him too far too early.

Newton - Has to be given 4-5 games in a row, the guy clearly has talent, but needs to get confidence at the top level, and he will be able to show it. He is at the very least, a better option than Robertson completing in the full forward spot, which leads me to...

Robertson - Still has value, however needs to be used more as a half forward flanker, rather than a deep forward. He showed against the Dons that he's lost a bit of his leap, but still has pace on the lead.

Martin - Would like to see him stay in the backline, however Warnock, Frawley and Rivers are probably our better options there, i'd still like to see Rivers get a couple of games up forward though.

All hail Liam Jurrah. With him playing up forward, anything could happen. He was unlucky not to finish with three goals on friday night. He looked dangerous in the forward 50 and his ability to play well around the ground is also a major plus. He's the wildcard I reckon, you never know quite what to expect.

U guys think Jurrah will play out the remainder of the season?

i seriously hope so because i need someone to get excited by in the forward line ....... and i dont know about u guys but i dong exactly jump out of my seat when miller drops a chest mark or when robbo plays for a free kick

Maybe we shouldn't give the fringe players games. They'll just entice us in with career saving performances and that will only prolong the inevitable.

I don't think giving Jace Bode and Nathan Carroll opportunities to save their career did us any good.

Put a line through a few Bails, and give them one or two send off games max. In the mean time keep playing the kids. Have the balls to back your process even if we do have some more embarrassing results.
