Just had the ABC call on the radio. Can anyone remember a more pulsating, mind-numbingly tense half hour of footy? The passage with Scarlo's soccer to Gaz that set up the Chappy goal had me out of the chair a day later. Whately could make marbles exciting IMO. Made about 3 infants cry at a family BBQ as I ran around the backyard screaming like a peanut after that goal.
Hoping the DVD has the alternate commentary like the '07 one cant wait to hear the others.

Just heard it too. Ripping call by Whately and Morphett, absolutely sensational. Already seen the Channel 10 replay too but ABC radio captured it far better, even though it was only in audio.

Anyone know how to get their hands on a copy of the 774 commentare, even if it's just the last qtr?
774 was included in the DVD for 07 so I assume it won't be this year either, and I just heard it then and would love to be able to relisten.
Any help would be great.

Byrnes, Chapman, and Rooke were excellent in the last quarter. Its amazing that St Kilda couldnt muster a goal for the whole quarter. Maybe Ross Lyon would like to have his 3/4 time speech again.

Just finished watching the replay. It was good to be able to sit back and relax this time.

I haven't seen many better quarters in terms of hard, contested footy. Every stat was hard earned, and although it was low scoring both sides were playing like men possessed.

I have been a harsh Critic of Shannon Byrnes like most people and have gradually come around during the year to consider him in our best 22 only to see him taper off again in the last half dozen games. However, his last quarter was simply outstanding, and was as good anything he has done.

Mark Thompson even stated earlier this year, Byrnes should have played in the 08 GF for his pace.

I assume you mean abc wasn't on the dvd commentary.

I suspect it wont be this time either. The issue in 07 was that as a public funded broadcast, they wouldn't allow it it to be used for someone else's commercial gain.

IIRC, the 07 DVD also had 3AW as an audio commentary option - is that not on an option the 09 DVD?

no 3aw on the 09 copy...

5aa on the 07 one was interesting to listen to, they tried to be as positive as they could about port even though they were getting smacked...

Actually my favourite bit is when Mark Mclure, l think, growls from the back of the box "plllllaaaaayyyyeeeedddd" when Scarlo has his moment of genius toepoke to Gaz. And Gaz turns and runs................
