Are you the big Hookesy fan I used to 'talk' with on the forum about him....with...about? :thumbsupv1:
Well, I was a big fan of Hookesy, not only as a cricketer but as a mate to have a beer and talk cricket with. So it may have been me :)

I found my autographed copy of his biography, and I thought you might know someone who'd treasure it much more than me.

Not sure if I'm just not in the mood, but the first show for the year was dull. Then tried watching the Saints documentary, had to turn it off after 5 minutes because Ross Lyon's monotone voice was putting me to sleep :) It's only just turned March and a little too early to get excited about footy.

Imo the show is cooked. Same recycled jokes & gags you can see coming from a mile away. It's run its race. There's only so far you can mine nostalgia. In the last 2 years or so they've even started to bring back guests they've had on before. Watching last night the 3 of them look like they're just phoning it in. One of my pet hates is watching Andy Maher staring directly into the camera whilst the other 2 are speaking directly to him.

I'm just going to take a stab and suggest that the we're not far away from another 'Dinners on girls' and some reference to Molloy having a criminal past in the 'hood (despite having nothing like it and going to the elite Peninsula Grammar).

You left out the kebab reference

Yeah last night was completely rehashed material
I'll give them a couple of weeks to warm up but almost looking forward to the guest presenters as it adds some freshness to the show

I usually get a laugh from Sam Pang, but he appeared totally disinterested in the whole thing last night.

I can hear Andy Maher's obnoxious laugh straight after this.

"OHHH HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW"

I don't think this is a fair point and I'd like to set you straight. Come see me in my office. Wherever that is.

Has to be close to the greatest fraud on television.

He's not some working class bloke, as you said one look at his education tells you otherwise. Has somehow been on television here forever despite rarely being funny when he was younger, which he has upgraded to NEVER being funny now. He wasn't even the funniest in the original D-Gen, and that was a long time ago now.

But you're right, his standard 3 jokes will be reworked no doubt.

Time to bury Drip Tray in the back yard. You could see the look on Jack Gunston's face being asked to respond to stupid questions, he even called for an end to the segment. Great to ask players about themselves, but favourite vegetable, colour, etc? Please. Sam Pang, you're better than this.

They showed footage of him last year at (I think) a local footy match wearing a $600 hoody. I can't remember the brand. It might've been a sponsorship deal, but I did have a little lol seeing 'Everyday Mick' wearing a designer hoody
:grinv1:

The key to drip tray is the guest needs to be willing to take the mickey.
Very hard to do as a current player plus Gunston strikes me as a bit full of himself anyway

Should really only have retired players as guests.

Is it just me or has Sam's personality on the show changed?
He doesn't seem as sharp, comedy wise in the handful of shows that have run in 2026
