THE GAUCHO JOURNAL: S30, R4

It was GremioPower’s first game starting at FP in S30, and it was the Swamprats’ first win of the season. He may have not repeated his performance against the Furies, when he scored 25 points coming from the bench – it was quite the contrary, actually.

In a very muddy clash at the Underground, the ball barely went towards the Atom Ant. However, when it did, he made it count, with an intercept mark that lead to SarahSmiles goaling in the last frame.

More important, still, it’s Sin City’s record with GremioPower starting at FP. The Rats have won 10 out of 11 matches. When the opposition let him loose, the Brazilian makes them pay; but when he is not active with the ball, he is able to create spaces for his teammates.

“SarahSmiles and Power Raid got open constantly, and we were able to explore that. They were perfect, and much of that was due GremioPower’s qooty IQ,” said a happy philreich after the game. “After last round performance, we thought the Hawks would pay attention to him, and he used that to the advantage of his teammates. We cannot ask much more form him than that.”

Sin City faces the Dragons this week. Their last encounter was GremioPower’s debut, in the same oval they will be playing now. It wasn’t a good day for the Rats. Nonetheless, that defeat prompted GP’s move onto FP, which ignited a series of nine wins in 10 matches, culminating in a GF victory.

The Dragons have made eight changes, after a bad loss at Abdu Prison last round. Rookie Bradesmaen will have the task to play on Sin City’s favourite Brazilian, while other rookie, VandoHawk, will play on SarahSmiles, with veteran Cold Sober taking on LukeParkerno1.

Will all those changes pay off for the Dragons? Can their new backline stop Sin City’s deadly trio of targets? What cards has philreich under his sleeves this time? What role will GremioPower play? Will the Rats win back-to-back games for the first time in S30?

GremioPower was back to the oval where he made his debut. It wasn't a great day, in which he made a mistakes early on and was subbed out in Q1 never to return. To make matters worse, the Rats were demolished by the Dragons. In the very next week, the Atom Ant was moved from defense to FP, he scored 4 goals, and Sin City would lose only once in their way to both the minor and the major premiership last season. Now playing as forward, GremioPower was decided to leave those bad memories even further behind him.

As people suspected when the line-ups were announced, having Bradesmaen on GremioPower wasn't a great match-up for the Dragons. That was corrected very early in the game, when Cold Sober was put on the Atom Ant. It didn't change much for the Rat pocket striker, although his aim was a bit off. The first two times the ball went to Sin City's left FP, GremioPower won it, but could only score a couple of behinds. With the visiting team struggling, his disappointment was easy to see.

Still, Sin City seemed lifted by those minor scores. As Cold Sober started to get advantage over the Atom Ant, the Rats began to get closer and closer on the scoreboard. Still, they would have headed onto HT losing if GremioPower hadn't found his regular form. As the siren was about to sound, philreich saw himself with the ball. With a quick move, the Atom Ant got open and received the pass for an easy goal and the lead.

Q3 was an even match, but GremioPower was involved in SarahSmiles's goal that opened the floodgates. From that point on, the match began one sided. The Dragons put Knifey Spoony on GP, but it didn't work. The Brazilian soon scored his second, which prompted another change. When AceAndy got the gig, though, it was too late. GremioPower was happy in having to play against such an experienced opponent:

"Yeah, AceAndy got on top, but I could learn a thing or two from him today. Besides, having him on me meant that someone else had an advantage we were ready to explore. If I don't do anything, but that is what helps the team winning, I am pretty much happy with it."

The Rats won well. Everybody was happy in the visitors' lockerroom. Now, Sin City is in 4th place, with a 2-2 record. After a slow start, the club believes the worst may have passed. This week, they play at home against an inconsistent Warriors. A tricky game, but there is plenty of confidence at the Underground.

Which Warriors will go to Sin City? Can the Rats win their third game in a row? What the supporters can expect from GremioPower?

GremioPower scored 4 goals in a match for the second time this season. Yet, he is quiet. What’s going on?

The posting side of things has been neglected due some real life issues — good ones, but that may compromise his involvement this season. He won’t leave, though.

The Atom Ant is in the Rising Star Committee and in the Swamprats’ Leadership Group, and enjoying both, but his time to live in Sweet has already been shortened. Hopefully, this won’t affect his qooty.

The first test is this Sunday, against the Bombers.

Second-season blues is something GremioPower was expecting. What came as a surprise was a sudden change in the life of the player behind the persona. Still, the Atom Ant hasn't given up on visiting Sweet and helping the Rats. It's just not as often as he was used to do in S29.

On the qooty field, things couldn't be better. There has been ups and downs, but that's part of the game; especially for those used to be at FP. Last week, played only Q1 down the field. Umpires weren't in a good mood towards him. They didn't give him a free the first time the ball went his direction, and denied him a mark in the second. However, mark or not, GP didn't waste his second chance. He thanked philreich for the ball with a perfect kick to goal; giving the Rats the lead. It was his only score for the day.

In Q2, GremioPower rested a bit on the bench before returning to play in the BP. The umpires kept doing him any favours, but he managed to get involved in a Sin City score in Q3, partnering with Rich the babe Evans and Ant Bear. More important, though, is that his presence at the back nullified iDon and helped Sin City winning the fourth match in a row.

Now, the Swamprats face a struggling Wonders. Sin City goes unchanged, which means that the Brazilian starts at his best position.

Can Sin City keep its momentum? Will West Coast recover its best form? What will GremioPower do?

Real life can suck the joy out of someone, can’t it? Still, the Swamprats keep winning, the Rising Star award is going more than fine, Grêmio won another derby (last loss was 11 games and 2 years ago), and I have plenty of support from friends and family. So, real life can bring us tons of joy, too!

Yes, the Rats are part of my real life. SFA Qooty can be a RPG, but I still need to personally engage in it, right? Last week, the match against the Roys was fun, both in the match thread and in the qooty field. I scored three goals, all in crucial moments of the match. I was a ninja, a sniper. Quiet, but deadly.

The Atom Ant’s legend keeps growing in Sin City; even though, projectv is gaining track as the club’s talisman. Six games, six wins. If he hasn’t done nothing in the past two games is because he has been busy unsuccessfully hiding from all the women (and some men) in town. He has been exhausted.

Now, the ladder-leader Rats receive the Demons in a GF rematch. The visitors are struggling, still trying to find some consistency, but they want revenge.

Can the Demons find their best qooty and beat the #ReigningPremiers at The Underground? Will the Swamprats keep their form and win their seventh match in a row? What has GremioPower reserved in his arsenal for exorcism? Can projectv put his priorities straight and play some qootball for a change?

THE GAUCHO JOURNAL: S30, R10


GremioPower started last week’s match well, with two touches and two goals, but he couldn’t do anything after that. Deaneus! adjusted his game and won everything after that. Headless made a fast cameo at BP, but soon this was rectified. Van_Dyke got there and shut down GP for the rest of the game.

After the match, the Brazilian spoke on his performance in his 20th SFA game: “There are some days like that. Still, I am happy with the way the game started and, most importantly, with how it ended. As long as we keep winning, it’s fine. I need to improve my defense, though. Let’s see what I can do against the Bears upstairs next week.”

It was Sin City’s seventh consecutive win. It was GremioPower‘s 16th career victory. The #ReigningPremiers Rats, also the Minor Round defending champions, are first on the ladder.

Can the Swamprats win 8 straight? Will the Atom Ant rebound and raise his game? Are the Bears good enough to stop the leaders?
