Any gym junkies on here?

Best gym?

YMCA is pretty decent, pool, spa, gym etc but the membership fee is too high.

Used to be a gym junkie back in the day but need to get back there since the divorce with the missus.

Been doing your standard pushups and curls at home but thought need to hit the gym again with a few of my work mates.

Just push up and bicep curls?

wowsers, you sir, are a gym no0b.

Started full time work this year (19) in an office job and I took my active lifestyle for granted. A fair few kilos later I decided I should go to the gym, as our offices have one on premises which is free for staff. I go four times a week (2 cardio, 2 weights) and it provides a great escape from the working landscape.

I have a very simple program which fits into my lunch hour; A combination of core, chest and arm exercises for weights and 20 minutes of bike for cardio. I have been nursing a chronic knee injury which limits my cardio to bike and it means I can't build up my core strength as much (Its not all bad however because my upper body is considerably weaker than my lower body).

Overall, a very rewarding exercise.

I used to stay in an apartment on Mount St when I was in Perth for work, used to get my daily exercise running up and down Jacob's Ladder.

Generally I hate gyms, although they're a bit of a necessity if you want to maintain rounded fitness with a fulltime office job.

No they're not! Running, swimming, biking and yoga is good enough.

**** gyms.

I go to one of those Anytime Fitness gyms. At 6 foot 2, and 63kgs, the constant "get a steak into ya" comments were tiring! But they're pretty convenient, and pretty enjoyable if you go in the dead of night and avoid the gym character covered in Dub's 'Characters in Society' thread...

Same here, I'm sure we probably ran the same sessions. I used to like getting to the top then turning right and doing a circuit of that street then back down the ladder. My best effort was 12 circuits before a break. A great view also if you managed to position yourself behind a nice girl:thumbsu:

I run and play sport but on its own it gives me a bit of an unbalanced physique, because it's all lower body. Going to the gym means I get some balance with the upper body and core.

I suppose I could do yoga and swim to get the same result but I don't really have the time.

I reckon that was the best way to do it. TBH I needed the recovery time of running down and around before I tackled the ladder again.

That thing is brutal. Took me a while before I could do more than one circuit without having to slow down near the top.

Don't need to go for a gym, got everything I need at home :thumbsu:

Anytime Fitness does look pretty sick though

I used to work in one. they're all just after your money.

if you want to find a gym, find a non-chain suburban type of place run by an independent. those are just as good, if not better.

i work at a rec centre, therefore get a free gym membership, saves me $900 a year

This thread reminds me how much I can't stand personal trainers.

"You gotta door, you gotta gym"

'And it's padded, so you wont ruin your door!'

Agree with the comment re chain gyms, not a fan, good local one is way better.

For girls, sure, for a guy who wants to be muscular, weights are pretty important.
