RIP Dickie Bird

I once had a copy of this VHS that I picked up for a dollar at a church fete…it was just a heap of videos of cricketers getting hit in the nuts by Dennis Lillee and Dickie Bird laughing at them

There his nothing funny about being hit in the nurries...except it is hilarious and I cannot not laugh at the poor bloke lying in agony.

Amazing knock. He's amazing to watch when he gets in the zone.

It's certainly taken some discussion away from the fact it was a 2 day test match which simply isn't good enough from the batsmen of both sides.

Not many runs, but this partnership has made them bowl and extra 5 overs so far, keeping pea hearted Archer in the field.

He looks like a year 9 kid throwing a tantrum with his sulky face.

The longer we keep them out there the closer we get to be bowling at them with a newish ball under lights tonight which is great. Yeah...I said to my boy yesterday, there are cricketers nuffies that love it...like lab and smithy...but he would have to be the most disinterested international cricketer I have seen. Just an observation from the sidelines which may be wrong but it does look that way.

I’ve been listening on the radio mostly so can’t really comment on Archer (although one image I saw of him yesterday looked very JoeyDerp like)…

…But if I was a modern day fast bowler I would crack the shits at by the tactics of all the captains. 8 down and you are bowling at Starc* et al and they put all the fielders on the boundary so that you can get 2 balls at Boland 🙄

We even did it in the last test, Starc was on a roll with 5 plus wickets bowling to the tail. Just load up the slips and he will get the job done

*I rate Starc as a batsman but they are giving him an easy net session here

I’ve been listening to a few English podcasts this morning (call it schadenfreude) and I came across Blowers YouTube page where he talks about getting introduced to Jagerbombs by Warney at age 77 then Warney having to put him to bed because the dinner they were supposed to have turned into a liquid dinner 🤣

Going to be a brutal test in Adelaide for the players (and spectators I guess). Current forecast is 37, 39, 38 over the first 3 days and given it's not a pink ball test, there will be absolutely no reprieve from the heat

England have been poor and deserve the criticism but there may be something in the over training. Apparently they did really push themselves in a bit of a training block before Brisbane and then they play in humidity and heat and wilt a bit. Maybe would have been better off playing some sort of game and a lighter training load.

As far as Noosa goes why would you not have 3 or so days relaxing before heading into the next test. Pretty sure the Australian team where not all in camp and training flat out.

Biggest toss to win in the series. If Australia wins and bats well into day 2 (meaning after lunch) the series is pretty much done.

I thought it was a pink ball test. So that, plus a flat track means we’ll bring in Lyon and Cummins will come in. Likely no Doggett and Neser. Wouldn’t mind Webster in for Inglis for the extra bowler.

That'll be a great toss to win.

The poms could barely bowl out an entire day in far better conditions, watching them deal with that will be funny.

Even funnier if they win the toss and bat, but bazball their way into bowling on the first day

It's been a fun test, though damn hot on Thursday. I won't go in tomorrow for last rites, I best start doing some stuff around home since we've got Christmas at ours.

As a proud SA boy it was great to see both Trav and Kez salute with tons at home.

Do the Poms get the moral victory by taking it into day 5
