On a side note, check out Hawthorns recruitment record of indigenous players, pre 1990.

Interesting reading, almost a blank page.
Running joke for years was the Aboriginal Welfare Officer at West Coast being the most overpaid staff member in the AFL - he had very little/no players to work with!

I got a simple solution for you all. Move over here to Chicago-land and we’ll start a small community of Freo supporters. Could call it New Freo or maybe Pavland.

Then you could become a Freo international member like me AND get a full year watchafl subscription for a mere $175AUS. You also get the benefit of getting a broken Freo pin and crushed or crumpled Freo stickers or magnet in the mail as your membership benefits. Super sweet deal.

Sorry the AFL are squeezing you all for more coin. It’s a monopoly and there’s nothing you can do. Why do you think the NFL is a $6billion a year business?

However, an unbiased article on the AFL site says Kayo is going to be the best sports experience ever. So really you should get in line and THANK your lucky stars that the AFL is providing you with such an experience. The way you’ve been watching AFL has been a pile of crap and now your enjoyment levels will go through the roof...

I don't see what the big fuss is watching the footy on the AFL live app was unbearable anyway limited to tiny screen and you couldn't cast it onto television.

It doesn’t cost me a cent to watch every single Packer game on TV. I think people have a right to be disgruntled over the cost.

Not to get all slippery-slope on you, but if you let them continue to do this they won’t stop. It costs me so much for my Packer season tickets, I almost can’t afford to go anymore. The waiting list is like 80,000, so there’s no incentive to stop hiking the price every year. If I don’t pay it, someone will. I actually sell them to my cousins who don’t have kids and more disposable income. The whole “take the family out to a game” would cost me over $500. It’s a shame really.

I work away for weeks at a time in remote locations and often don't have any access to a TV. It's going to make it very difficult for me now to see any AFL games.

And you could cast it to your TV. There was a trick to it.

Thanks Dale.

Certainly looks like Cripps is staying at Carlton.
Looks that way. Not a single player would be saying "the team better get their act together or I'm gone" though. Plenty of Brad Hill quotes just like that knowing that he had an agreement with St Kilda already in place.

Absolutely filthy that the live streaming on the AFL app has been discontinued. You now need to use Kayo to see the games live which you have to pay for even if you're a telstra customer.

Squeezing every cent out of us that they can. View attachment 1050078

Simple solution. If the only reason you were with Telstra was for the free AFL then find a cheaper provider (hint: There are plenty with great deals). I pay $165/year for my son's phone and he has 10gb/month.
Sign up for Kayo separately.
With COVID businesses are going to spend 2021 trying to recoup losses from 2020, get used to it.

I'm with Woolworths mobile - costs me $10 a month and I get 10% off my shopping bill once a month so I effectively make $10-$30 off my phone bill each month. Only 1gb data though. Split kayo with a friend and it's only $12.50 month

Im up in the Pilbara mist of the time.
Not sure if there are too many providers that work up here other than Telstra and sometimes Optus. I know there are little off shoot companies that utilise the network that may be viable.

Ill look at some options when im allowed to fly back to Perth.

So based on your son’s data plan of 10gb/month. He can watch 1 and a half AFL games a month on Kayo on his phone.

Or he could use wifi? Not a fan of the Murdochs but Kayo is an objectively good app. Plenty of choice, easy to use and on demand streaming

You NEED to be at home to use your WiFi, nobody is talking about watching AFL at home (it’s common sense to use WiFi over data when at home)

My post is about watching AFL on your phone when you’re NOT at home which is the point of the AFL app (which Kayo is replacing)

I don’t have a problem with Kayo. It’s a good app and product. I have a problem with Telstra doing deals with Kayo while not making it data free.

AFL/Telstra/Kayo are in business together, so why not make it data free?

Rowell, Collins and Oscar Allen being marked ‘elite’ and L Ryan not just shows what a farce Champion Data is.

Brings back memories if watching games while I was in the office "working " at Rio.. 😂

Okay...Nat Fyfe is elite, but Luke Ryan isn't?? Ummm...also, what makes Zac Fisher elite? Boy oh boy, wowee!!

At least a quarter of the elite players according to Champion Data are solid best 22 players at best.

Every year since we missed the eight they rank us a bottom two list - We haven’t finished bottom two since 2001. I don’t know why, but Champion Data clearly doesn’t work for us.

Anyone that believes those stats sites is, quite frankly, a complete moron. The fact that Champion Data gets used so heavily in AFL circles baffles me. Anyone that understands the game shouldn't need ridiculously obscure and pointless stats to tell you what your eyes should tell you.

Man, reading throught you guys data plan makes me happy to live in Europe, 18 euros a month gets me 100Gb as well as unlimited call and text in France. On the other end the watchafl app outside of australia is an absolute rip off.

You don’t like the cost of the watchafl app? Did you buy a separate subscription? I get the digital Freo membership, which gives you a subscription for less than buying the subscription separately. Considering you get all games on demand, all AFL specials, and all fox footy shows (most are shite, I know) I don’t think $150 US is too bad. It’s better than what the Aussies are going to have to pay for Kayo! Lol.

I just play the games on my laptop and connect it to my tv with an HDMI cable. Works like a charm.

Get around it! [emoji106][emoji106][emoji1]
