TLDR?
The WA state government are ******* idiots

Read the full article, for the full perspective.

When you get past the “click bait” headline, the actual body of the article does not correlate with the headline.

All will be ok.

No that was just Brett Rosebury calling what he hadn’t called all season and being over technical. McPharlin jumped over the mark by about 8 inches.
It wasn’t. It was him being OCD on the big stage. Buddy came around wider then usual. McPharlin was behind the mark more or less.
It’s a silly rule open for interpretation.

Bruce was obviously past it but the entire 7 broadcast as a whole feels so damn stale no matter who's commentating.

Looking forward to Friday night football again, Bruce's gushing, hero worshipping commentary was too much for me. He is staying with horse racing and the Olympics however.
I don't follow the nags and the Olymics are only once every 4 years so that should work out just fine.
Hopefully there is a cull of some of the other dead wood in the channel ego football commentary team as well.

I actually don't mind Carey's commentary even though he is a real piece of sh*t. But Ling...yeah he is not great on the ears.
I think Ling is bree-yant. I think his knowledge of the game is bree-yant, his insights are bree-yant, his special comments are bree-yant his vocabulary is bree-yant, in fact everything about Lingy is... bree-yant!

I'm going to miss hearing on Friday night how player X is "the best exponent of the handball in the game" to a broad agreement and then on Saturday night hearing that player Y is "the best exponent of the handball in the game" to a broad agreement again.

Not sad to hear Bruce is hanging up the mic. Can't stand his style. Think he would be bearable if he just called the play and didn't add anything else. Of course he can't help himself so poor special comments guy is forced into answer questions that sound rhetorical but aren't and responding to insights such as the losing teams need to kick a goal.

I would pay anything (within reason) for a broadcast that is 90% crowd noise & the rest just someone saying the player’s name as they are involved with just a bit of description.
The number of times I get frustrated by someone banging on about whatever comes in to their head & ignoring a chain of possession or critical piece of quick skillful play seems to increase every year.
Just use the English Premier League model or Richie Benaud style. Always paying attention & leaving analyzing for breaks in play.

The hero worship is what shits me.

If someone does something brilliant then call the play brilliant - don't wax lyrical for the next 2 minutes about what a brilliant superstar they are while completely ignoring the no name player when he does something equally brilliant.

Soccer commentators manage to call some of the biggest names in the world without fawning over them like schoolgirls with a crush, yet AFL commentators are obsessed with building a cult of personality around their favourite players.
