Autopsy The MFC List - Breaking down what's needed

Agree with trading Petterd, was about to write off Bate as no hope for a trade but then surprised to find out he's still only 25. I definitely thought he was 29/30 for some reason. Must have an old head on him.

Don't know if anyone would bite at the Bate (sorry) though, Petterd I'd think we'd have more luck.

Weren't the Dogs keen on Bate last year? Maybe see if they still want him? Dunno that we'd get much for him, but I can't see him doing a whole lot more for us than he is already.

Should've taken the second round pick for him.

Agree, and Neeld probably does too in hindsight, but i don't blame him for wanting to see how he goes for another year. Reckon we probably still would've ended up with Taggert & Tynan anyway.

Resurrection time!
I think right now I'm pretty spot on. Dunn moving towards 'keep'. .

Dear god NO.

People have to understand, list cloggers aren't uncordinated blind hacks. Dunn has been measured by three coaches. He needs to be delisted. Bate has shown more but his time is up too.

Time to sell Sylvia. This could be the last window we can sell high on his "potential".

"Has been good for a few weeks. Could be coming good" How many farking years do we need to hear that. Bookmark it for next year.

Cut Bennell, Sellar, joel Mac.

IMO Petterd will garner interest. but maybe nothing more then swap late draft picks.

4 or 5 others survive by default.

How is Spencer and Bail still in contract talks while Rivers isn't

No way Gysberts should be traded, that is ridiculous.

Why should Sellar be cut? Taking gorilla forwards and improving every week? Lord yes.

Jurrah - We're sticking by him so I would assume he is staying.

Moloney - He wants to stay. Bit of a 50/50 with this one. Could recapture form (unlikely) but could also stay on and produce what he has this year too.

Rivers - One of our better defenders who's shown he can play forward too. Has to be a keeper.

Petterd - Certainly open to trading him to the Gold Coast - they have to get rid of some of their kids and I'm sure they'd give us a half decent one for Ricky.

Macdonald - Delist pls.

Dunn - Would have delisted a few weeks ago but ending the season well.

Bate - Delist pls, should have taken the offer from the Dogs looking back

Bartram - Tricky situation obviously with his knee. What wouldn't be a bad option, because it could take a few months to determine the true effect of his surgery, is a one year deal, and if his knee is screwed he could help out coaching the defensive group or something along the lines of that as part of his deal.

Sellar - Has been pretty good for us this season. Certainly offer him another deal.

Bennell - Delist pls. Or a trade (again, to the Gold Coast for another of their good young players, also links him with Harley), that would be a good result for us.

Davis - Certainly should get another contract, but needs to get a game.

Strauss - I think he's certainly a member of our best 22 even though he's only two or three games back. Keep him.

Bail - Starting to cement his spot in the best 22. Keep him, has a good defensive game and applies pressure which is all we ask.

Spencer - Though earlier on he wasn't too good, he's just come back from a knee reco so we should stick by him. His form hasn't been too bad either.

Blease - Behind Rivers, the bloke we must keep the most.

Gysberts - Not open to a trade. I think he's a part of the future, just has to work on his fitness a little bit and he'll be a good footballer for us.

Get the worst feeling to think that, in my mind, Petterd would be very likely to go. Just not sure what has happend to him. I'm thinking he will be trade bait, as much as it pains me to say it, I think we could land another big(ger) fish if we add him to a deal with a draft pick. Definitely should be playing AFL every week with the talent he has, if not for us, anyone but GW$ or Richmond..

Guys ; is Geelongs reported enquiry/interest about due in anyway to Gysberts being unhappy. Im sure we remember his game V us were he played very well but he not advance due to injuries / chances since then. Different coach , perhaps a different feel and some kids dont feel happy anymore. Reason I say this is I doubt we will be targeting one of your younger players without some inference that he was interested.
Does the coach think your list balance is little off? Maybe wants a different style of player , maybe someone closer to being ready to play , not someone who need another couple of preseasons?

If he was to move I'm not sure we will be able to supply picks to match a p11 player.

I don't think he's unhappy, he's just from the area and young. I've heard him linked to Geelong a few times, and I'm sure a fair few people will mistake his niggling injuries for omission. Much like Martin.

We wouldn't take less than we payed.

Ok , not the first time linked to Geelong. Its a good draft year , all our 2009 picks seem to have a good future so a P11 kid would not be just given away but you don't always get what you paid if a move happens.
It will be interesting in a couple months time;)

Indeed it will, but the Dees are obviously in a good position come trade time. We don't need another pick 11, what we need are big, middle-aged bodies.

Considering the only two you have that fit are Hawkins and Selwood...I can't see Gys leaving.
