So we have a new coach (again).
Craig's methods and beliefs have been closely linked to Neeld in the media - and in his own words.
We are assured nothing much will change.

And yet.

We hear strange reports coming out of training. The boys seem to have discovered a new stretch of ground to play through - a 'corridor'. Will this translate to game day? And will they go a dread step further into the forbidden non-members wing?

We see new names on the team sheet, and hear of Jack Watts initiating contact.

Will our players play with greater freedom? Or less?

Will James Magner be released from the Casey Mystery Spot, after two creditable showings?

In this thread, I'd like to collate the changes- or their frustrating lack -in Neil Craig's tenure.
Different players favoured or out of favour. New approaches to training and gameday, if any.

I think this will help put into relief (read that both ways) the Neeld era years time.

For the moment:
Mitch Clisby in.
Spencer ahead of Gawn?
Watts named on the ball (I know, I know, but still...)

Further, what do you hope to see?
Over to you.

Nathan Jones shouldn't be allowed to play unless he shaves off those damn sideburns

Fair to say I have never seen the word interregnum before. Well played.

Surely Watts named on the ball is a typo given Sylvia is at FF. If you wrote out a team sheet it would be pretty easy to mix up FF with ruck rover.

That said, I would like to see both players in the centre.

I hope to see the players throw off Neelds shackles and go on a frolic of their own, er the good kind with lots of goals via the corridor, not a 186 frolic.

Yeah surely.

Although I would have believed it if Neeld was in charge.

I know keeping a close eye on Jack Watts is something of a redundancy, but it will be interesting to see how Craig handles him, or if there's a change now the alleged Neeld friction is gone.

He has looked much better the last two games (in terms of intensity at the ball) so fingers crossed he keeps that up. Maybe the thought of Neeld no longer being there motivated him, or maybe he's trying to up his trade value, but in any case there have been a few good signs.

I figure it's because he's now in his natural habitat - the forwardline - and he's just more comfortable. Would love to leave he and Fitzy there for an extended period, I reckon we'll see quick improvement.

Nothing much will change, we should win, but we would've with Neeld coaching as well. Great word though PitchBlease

Thread title sounds like a Ludlum novel haha, but worth discussing.

I hope Craig does change things up a little. Not for the sake of it but to bring some spark to the team. Corridors is a good start.

Neeld has been talking about our long term rebuild at the cost of short-term success. How he will be jealous of seeing our forwards run around next year. Pretty much that he's done the hard work and our current losses were unavoidable. Intimating the next coach will benefit from the fruits of his hard work.

IMO Craig will to a certain degree attempt to debunk that mentality/notion. Given he may put his hand up for a permanent gig I expect he would be keen to show that our group is coachable now rather than it looking like the next coach has inherited a team on the up thanks to Neeld.

Much of what Neeld has said has been a cop out this year but he played the "I've made the hard decisions at my own expense card".

I hope Craig can make an improvement with the group in the second half and show up Neeld's shortcomings for what they were. The improvements may be subtle but welcome non the less.

Sounds exactly like Bailey's last words. I'll believe it when I see it.

At least other Neeld supporters have posted that nothing will change and we'll be slaughtered again .. something they need to see happen to confirm their honest belief that Neeld wasn't the problem, but also leaving them open to being proved wrong. But this comment is trying to set up a win/win situation. We lose and nothing has changed showing Neeld wasn't the problem .. we win and it proves nothing as we would have won anyway under Neeld. No doubt you would have made the same comment if the coaching change had come the week before the Gold Coast game. I believe Neeld was the problem and that we will see a big difference this week. A team freed from a confusing game plan and able to play more on their instincts. I expect us to win but the change won't just be shown by a win or loss, it will be evident in the way they play. Of course I may be proved wrong, but I'm happy to take that risk.

When Craig took over Adelaide for the first time they played us and beat us by 10+ goals. Ill take that as an omen

Neil Craig: Neeeeeeeeellddd! Neeeeeeeeellddd! Neeeeeeeeellddd!
Mark Neeld: What!?
Neil: [looks confused] [beat] Neeeeeeeeellddd!
Mark: What? What is it?!
Neil: Games out there! Ha ha ha ha! Made you look!
Mark: [pfff] Mmmmmm! They're just words, Neeldy Words can't hurt you!
[Craig throws a beer can. It hits Neeld on the head.]
Mark: Oooow! Thats it!
Peter Jackson: Neil, that was really mean!
Neil: I know, and I got him right in the... uh oh..[Neeld is storming towards him. He stands glaring at Neil.]
Neil: [nervously] Heh heh heh... hi, Neeld. Go Dees!
Mark: Do you have a problem with the way I'm coaching?
Neil: No! No! No no no. Its just that... well... like I was yelling earlier... seems like... anyone with half a brain can coach better than you.
Mark: Uh huh! Half a brain, huh? Well, you know what? Sounds like you just volenteered!
[puts cap on Neil's head and gives him the memo board]
Neil: Me? But you were doing such a great job!
