St Kilda also have #25 for that, though. I would think they'd be happy going into a shallow draft with #3 and #14.

St Kilda have stated their objective is to have 3 first round picks.
Currently they have picks 3, 18, 24, 25.
Crows have pick 23
Don't see how trading with St Kilda is possible as they wouldn't give up picks 3 or 18.

That only leaves GWS as a maybe to swap pick 14 for their 21 and 23 somehow directly or through involving other clubs.

Don't think any other club would want to lose their early picks.

If we stick to that (which we won't) we'll have a Ben Jacobs situation on our hands, except there'll be a club who wants Polec and has picks that wouldn't be overs earlier than us in the draft.

Imagine if Adelaide and Essendon had their picks - our first rounder would be 16. 30 I was happy enough to do, but now the compensation picks have ****ed us, we just need to get the best possible compensation for our 14 that we can.

Every year, there's a new stud that will come along. Would you draft Polec with 14? I probably would, because I'm backing Hinkley and Burgess to get the best out of him. This isn't the last draft they will ever have.

The trade that was doing the rounds today, pre-compo picks was

Port trade pick 13 for 18 and 23.
Port trade 18 to Brisbane for Polec

It seemed to be realistic enough, and could still be done with picks 21 and 22 from GWS.

Considering the contract off Brisbane put in front of Polec, pick 34 is more than enough compensation. If the Crows want to put up pick 23 and can get Polec to agree to it good luck to them. Remember Polec was pick 5 in a draft where 12 of the best underagers had been taken out of the draft so to be fair pick 5 was equivelant to about pick 12 in any other year. Remember that Polec was fit for large parts of this year and did not get a look in for any games so the lions rank him nowhere near there best 22.

That would not work out as well for you guys. That means your first pick would be 34 instead of 25.
