Brother in law got a fright when this snake came out of the box. Seen many things hitch a ride in banana boxes before, but never seen a decent sized brown tree snake.

Going back 15 years ago when I was packing shelves at Coles I had the exact same thing happen to me with a green tree snake. Working away filling stock at 5 in the morning in Tassie in the middle of winter and out popped this snake out of a banana box.

Closest I’ve ever been to shitting my pants.

Long story short, had a pretty crappy weekend as the wife had a retnal tear and bleed in the eye and i had to ferry her all over Melbourne to get tests and ultimately an operation.

One funny thing came out of it though. Sitting in one of the waiting rooms another patient comes out of the consoltency , eyepatch on being led by his missus. The specialist says you will need to make another appointment so i can check later. Then old mate inquires "can i drive"? Consultant says not until you can see!

Can't wait to see Saturn but (you know what's coming next) I hope you don't post a picture of Uranus (boom-tish)!

Actually uranus is obscured by the sun atm but still worthy of the gag .

Saturn is setting and rising in daylight atm from here so will have to wait till its timing is alligned with night, and occurring when the sky is clear.

The wifes first request was to view saturn. She will be having to wait for the above and her eye to be on the mend.

The reports i read about adding a barlow lense were somewhat mixed but have to say in at least one nights viewing the results were great for both observing and astrophotography . Possibly due to being used in low bortle sky here combined with a bigger scope.

Some of the bits have arrived from aliexpress to build an EQ tracking platform. So should get ever further improvements.

Anyway it was only 30 odd bucks.
