"Aberration".

This is Mark ****ing Robinson's fault.

I hate to ruin your ongoing joke but Scott called our lack of effort vs Dogs an aberration. Then after the Hawthorn debacle, in the presser he conceded that perhaps that previous game wasn't an aberration as he'd hoped.

Then Robbo, who clearly couldn't concentrate on a presser for more than 15 seconds, decided to write an entire article about it. His catchy line was 'one aberration is an aberration, two is a trend'. The moron probably thought he was being so clever.

How upsetting.

On a related note, I'm not sure how Hird got away with dismissing the St Kilda loss as an aberration. Probably because he didn't use the word, just expressed the meaning. It's a dirty, dirty word in football.

Fair enough, my thoughts on Robinson, and sports journos in general, are a tired, old topic.

Just FYI, I actually picked up on it after reading a thread on your board, though; I think Teffy and a few others were losing their shit at Scott during your down period, and there was criticism that he failed to accept responsibility.

It stuck with me, because I remember thinking very similar things about Knights.

What, like the entire football media and as a result countless thousands (millions) of people believing the Essendon soft tissue proble this season was all the fault of Dean Robinson and he alone? Whereas reality has the coaching staff headlined by Hird and Thompson signing off on the program that was developed by Robinson in conjunction with the entire fitness staff.

The media loves a buzz word as much as they love a scapegoat. "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story" and all that kind of stuff. The fact BT made such a point about Dean Robinson being called The Weapon on Saturday night football for 3 or 4 consecutive weeks when we were up and about wouldn't have helped.

The media stopped reporting facts on football many many years ago. Sensationalism is the way forward and if you're wrong, blame your "sources" or tell lies to make it sound like it was an honest mistake. People are allowed to joke and point sticks, it's not like we did it on your board. Don't come on another clubs board and get petty about something the vast majority on this board know to be petty.

Wow, that's a really strong reaction to a pretty light hearted post. Cheer up, grumpy.

Some of the crowds to these games are starting to piss me off, wish we could pull a crowd like the U.S get to some of their sports.

(Yes I know they have a way bigger population etc)

yeah we only have the fourth highest attended sporting league in the world

Doesn't mean much when we have huge chunks of the crowd empty.. You can bring out all the stats in the world to put it in a nice light but it still looks shit compared to some sports.
