Also, if all other teams win (top 4 teams) Pies will be out of the 4.

Good news: - This will hopefully shut up all the cocky Pies flogs on this forum
- We have a chance to go top 3

Bad news: - The Blues flogs will be chirpy for the first time in months
- I have Collingwood Minor Premiership in a lot of Brownlow multis, a lot of them involving Watson. This will be a massive blow to their chances

Awesome result for the Bombers! All we need now is North, port and Brisbane to win...

No. All we need is for our own club to do the job tomorrow night. The others can please themselves.

We've been gifted a golden opportunity tonight.

Yes. Every game that one of the top teams lose is a major positive for us.

Hope North win next Friday now. Make it utterly meaningless for Carlton, while helping us greatly.

Indeed. Could be hard to tip, actually.

Tonight's result is particularly healthy in light of Pendlebury crowing during the week that Collingwood are actually in a better position now to win the flag than they were last year (cool story emmelberry).

Seriously, the motto of this season shouldn't be "It Is Australia's Game" it should be "Anyone Can Be Killed."

In 2001 when we finished top of the table we lost to Carlton twice in the one season... a fairly mediocre/mid-table Carlton who finished in the lower end of the finals. Both were highly depressing losses.

I'd still rather win all our games than worry about all the teams around us...

By the way, what is with the signature at the bottom of your posts?

Absolutely we would rather win all our games but that isn't very realistic. I want to finish top 4. The more looses to the teams around us, the more likelihood we have of finishing top 4.

Got a few theories on last night if anyone wants to hear me out.

Collingwood
Not sure how much longer they can get away with playing 4 or 5 kids a game. I think it is starting to take a toll on the older players as they've had to pick up the workload. Not only that but the younger types seem to be tiring. They've played a fair bit of footy and it is starting to catch up with them.

Elliot, Sinclair, Payne, Williams and Clarke. Most only got under 10 possessions and had zero influence on the game. Fasollo had a lot of possessions but no impact. Collingwood need the likes of Pendlebury, Didak, Brown back in the side ASAP.

With the pies looking jaded it really brought an average Carlton into the game. All of McLean, Walker and Yarran had their best games of the season. Thought McLean was excellent during the second quarter when the heat was on. Yarran had is customery dash back off halfback. I'm sure Monkeyman is impressed after sticking by Yarran all week.

It is now clear and for their sake, clear to the Carlton coaching staff if Kruezer is fit he must be their number one ruckman. Was excellent around the ground and some of his hitouts to advantage were excellent.

Carlton still need a key forward. Thought their forward functioned a lot better with Hampson or Kruezer in but that is because they are not forwards. Duigan played well as a full forward but he will get quickly found out.

Overall I think this win was a good confidence booster for Carlton and only that. They caught Collingwood on a really good night and will have to improve on that effort if they're going to make finals.

I would rather lose once to Melbourne (just) than Carlton TWICE in the one season (by a combined 83 points)...

Ouch.

Out all of the supporter groups on Bigfooty, since Essendon's re-emergence as a possible contender this year, there has been one supporter group who has generally put us down however small the opening has been - Collingwood. They have a real chip on their shoulder about Essendon at the moment and that really 'dominant' 1 point win on Anzac Day is the source of most of it.

I did laugh a little bit when Mick Malthouse said on the radio last weekend that Collingwood players now considered Essendon as a 'bigger rival' (during his tenure as coach) than Carlton.

Smash them Dons.
