If I had made that call, and I didn't, it wouldn't have been too bad because Myers was touted for his leadership and character.

Hoping for an unlikely Brisbane win this afternoon. Sydney/W.B should be a great contest. I'll be checking score updates regularly.

Massive LOL @ us beating Geelong, despite missing 3 or 4 of our best.

Even bigger LOL @ us losing to Melbourne.

Wow.

LOL i said the same thing to mate, I think our loss to Melbourne displayed how bad a form slump we were in and our need for midfielders that can follow the coaching structures..

Our loss to Sydney, North, Richmond and Melbourne should never have happened.

GWS gets its first AFL player: Adelaide's Phil Davis

THE AFL's eighteenth team, Greater Western Sydney, has got its first AFL player - young Crow Phil Davis.

Davis, who is out for the rest of the season after injuring his shoulder in April - this morning told the Crows playing group he intends to accept an offer to join the Giants in 2012.

“To lose another centre half-back after the loss to Gold Coast of Nathan Bock last year is certainly not ideal. I can ensure all our members and supporters that we did everything in our powers to get Phil to stay, including putting forward an offer well in excess of any offer to an 18 game player in the club’s history.

The AFL will later work out compensation in the form of a draft pick for the raid on Davis.

Davis, 21 later this month, was drafted with pick 10 in the 2008 national draft. He made his AFL debut in 2010 and has played 18 games.

Massive news and a big loss to Adelaide who have now lost Bock and his replacement. Fortunately they have other KPP's that can take his place - Thompson, Talia and Otten.

I think similarly about Port.

If I were lucky enough to be playing AFL, but unfortunate enough to be at that club, I'd be asking for the first trade out.

At least Port have got themselves a flag in recent history, and have some real greats of the modern era that they can bring back to the club in time.

Melbourne has been a failure since Barassi left for Carlton. Even Richmond is in an arguably less dire state. At least they've still got people from their last premiership putting about in football circles.

Port's woes are financial, and even that has got a lot to do with the SANFL. Melbourne, on the other hand, looks to be in complete upheaval. Port's list is just kinda crappy/old, but at least they have a crack at some point in every game. They're just not very good (which will change in time).

Melbourne have a very good list, but they have pathetic leadership. I'd get out of there post-haste, without hesitation.

The more I think about it, the more Bailey's sacking looks deplorable. I mean, a head needed to roll after Saturday, and I don't think that Bailey necessarily has the goods as a coach, but on the other hand, his appalling record has more to do with the directives he was given from on high to tank, rather than his own skill as a senior coach.

As much as I hate Melbourne, and disliked Bailey's carrying on after the Essendon game, I hope he gets another job soon (probably under Primus at Port). I can't really turn against an old Don.
