They are.

But this is the social media bubble, not the political sphere one.

Operates a different grift.
I suspect he may have ended up in the political sphere as time went on. Will never know now though.

No human being deserves to die for sharing their views. For a man who said the below though

“I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights"

It's very ironic.

He would probably still stand by that.

When we have house invasions here i'd quite like to have the option to be able to to greet them with pistol in hand to drop them as they stepped through the window/door.

Except in our society we're supposed to just be willingly the victims of crimes with very little to protect ourselves.

Except it does not work that way, does it? Are the home invaders going to knock politely and wait for you to retreive your guns from its safe?

Not to mention, if you have the abiilty to easily access a gun, it is much more likely your visitor will have one too.

Spoken like a true politician.

The same campaigners that won't even let people have pepper spray to protect themselves.

People like you are more than happy with the status quo of regular people getting ****ed up without any proper equipment to protect themselves while the crims can carry whatever they want.

Violence begets violence.
I've never even witnessed an act of violence and I'm mid 30s let alone someone with a weapon. Gun or otherwise.

A lack of firearms has made us a safer society.

You're very fortunate or have lived a very sheltered life.

Plenty of violence getting around in Australia, thankfully very little with guns though.

Violence begets violence.

That's a nonsense saying.

Zero relevance to people protecting themselves from criminals.

Imagine thinking criminals won't commit violence upon you if you act all nice and polite to them.

Like the two kids who ran from their attackers but got hacked to death anyway.

Showing that avoidance also begets violence.

Sheltered life.

How often have you two seen a shooting or stabbing happen right in front of you?

Or the unfair stigma about where I live is just that. Unfair. Brilliant place to live.

Why does it have to be a stabbing or a shooting?

I've been part of a group that was put into hospital when we were 'jumped' walking home one night. My cousin was beaten to death with a gym bar. I've seen dickheads throw punches at sport, at pubs etc.

I understand more than most. I was beaten up by six guys, who I had no prior knowledge of, outside a nightclub once.

Why do people do something like that to someone in the first place? Maybe they have seen violence as a way to process emotions or to feel some control or for any other reason. Maybe they had hate in their heart from something else and used me as a way to react to those feelings and emotions.

It starts from somewhere. People don’t just use violence out of nowhere (unless from severe mental health issues).

I guess the worry is if guns become easier to get again they are just going to end up in the wrong hands. They'll replace machetes as the weapon of choice.

I’m sorry your group were jumped, but not sure why someone would be sheltered because they have gone their entire life not seeing an act of violence. The last time I saw a fist fight was in the late 1990’s at high school and I hope I go through the rest of my life not seeing another one.

I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. Do you mind posting what happened in that situation? Surely there was a prison sentence. :(

If I'm trained and registered with that firearm, easy access to the weapon is desirable.

Easy access to a weapon for those "trained and registered" also means easy access for the untrained and unregistered - intruders, children.

It also means the trained and registered have easy access for those moments when they would otherwise resort to just physical violence towards loved ones.

Adding guns into society even if regulated and controlled cannot be the answer.

We drastically and successfully diverted from the gun path in 1996 and nearly 30 years of data will show we're safer for it.

Even with the machete crime in Melbourne atm adding guns is not the answer.

Violence is never the answer but I think a lot of people are fed up with all the shit happening (stabbing, crime, home invasions etc) and feel like enough isn’t being done to protect us (speaking about Melbourne, it’s become a shitshow). People will start taking matters into their own hands.

The issue is with the ****wits committing these acts, if they want to kill, they’ll kill with any weapon. We ban machetes, they’ll just use knives, so we ban knives, they’ll use hammers.

We need harsher penalties, like look what happened with that poor Ukrainian girl in the US, stabbed to death by a guy who shouldn’t have been anywhere near the public, absolute joke!!

The wrong hands already have access to them if they really want them.

They will ban machetes and the only people who will still have them is the criminal.

Except you and I aren't allowed to own anything to counter that weapon.

There's more guns out there now than there was before Port Arthur. Have we seen any massive rise in gun crimes with that rise in gun ownership?

At a minimum we need to be able to at least own pepper spray for self-defence.

At least it gives people a chance to get separation and slow down someone entering a house or attacking them.

Except as we see with Labor in Victoria, they don't want us to be able to protect ourselves. They want regular people just to have to suffer the consequences of violent crime and then they'll deal with it after the act.
