People who work in offices here - what do you generally do for lunch? Spend it with colleagues? Alone? Eat in the lunch area? Eat at your desk? Eat outside alone/with others? Go for a walk?

I generally bring lunch from home and eat my desk and browse. Actually prefer it. The iPod in and browsing and it feels like I'm not even at work. Quite like lunches to myself.
Head out with my mate and talk football for an hour, 5 days a week. Normally Subway or the pub.

Monday lunch is indoor soccer down the road. The rest of the week head out with some friends from work and go to various different places near the office. Often the pub on thursday/Friday.

I think I have brought lunch once to work in the 2 years ive worked here

Fitting farewell for Kobe right now. 60pts (highest in a farewell final game), scores 17 of their last 19 points and 38 in the 2nd half as he single-handedly drags them over the line from being behind in the last quarter.

The bigger basketball story is the Warriors breaking the season record for wins.

Not some old chucker throwing up 50 shots in a dead rubber ;)

I normally like to just read the different papers and eat at my desk. Current job they're real big on eating in the lunch room and talking shit. Think my dislike for the role I'm in makes me not want to do that more than usual, I'm not normally a recluse!

Finance for now. Want to do my own thing one day. Just don't know what!
I am a geologist.

Cant see myself doing this for the rest of my life to be honest

I had to google what that is :(

Depends really on what your workplace culture is like. Are you working in a group or more individual tasks?

My tasks throughout the day can either be individual or constantly working with 2-3 others. Sometimes i'll lunch with the people i'm working with but often i'll be doing stuff that's on a deadline individually so i'll eat at my desk.

I've worked in offices were everyone stops work at 1230 and all eat lunch together in the lunchroom.

Beast. He's certainly top of the "who's the best player after Jordan" list for me.

What does everyone do here for work. I know chef is a baker? Few of you work in finance

Wow, doesn't that cost you a fortune? No chance I'd go out for lunch every day.

Again, isn't that expensive? Or do you guys just eat worms out in the field? :P

A few of the guys generally play basketball once a week - I play but not often. It's a lot of fun though.

We work as a team, office culture is pretty good - aren't that many which I guess helps, and everyone is pretty friendly and gets along well too. We all have our own desks etc, and are allocated things to work on individually, but people always have questions and we always help each other out etc.

Much prefer eating at my desk as I said though. Put the iPod on, browse Big Footy, I blink and my hour is up. A few people from my team eat in the lunchroom/staffroom, but they sit there on their phones and I barely talk. I go sometimes, but I don't really see the point. I like them, but doing my own thing is definitely my preference.

I'm a chippy
Ach, a builder!

Woah, I just realised his username and job are related!
Well done Perth ;)

Check the white text in my post fool. ;)

Yeah I save a ton of money not going out for lunch.

Yeah that's fair enough just keep in mind networking is a huge part of your working life. You'll be surprised how much gets discussed at lunch or over a trip to the coffee machine. Depending on how big your workplace is there are people you might not even see during your working day if you stay at your desk.

For example, where i work is on the opposite side of the floor to the Directors, Associate lawyers and other legal teams. During the day i wouldn't see them as they have no reason to come to my side and vice versa but at lunch quite often they'll be in the lunch room. This is where you can talk to them, have a chat and they can put a name to a face for future reference. Just being around puts you in people's thoughts.

"That Cruyff guy? Nar no idea who he is never seen him" or "yeah he just keeps to himself don't know too much about him"

"Oh Shoei? over in such and such? Yeah i've seen him about and had a chat, nice guy. Actually that reminds me he mentioned he was interested in such and such and we need someone to help with......"

Not saying that's how you are just something to remember!
