Lack of consent form a living, intelligent being. Once you realise that, you'll make the connection.

Depends on the definition of intelligent I suppose. Animals in the wild eat and kill other animals, we eat and kill animals. Whether we could survive without eating them is only part of the debate.

The same definition of intelligence would also be interesting to see applied to us a race by future generations. Given what we've done and continue to do to the planet whilst ignoring the obvious solution.

That's a bit facetious as there's a difference between our actions at the moment being defined as 'unintelligent' and those of a cow or chicken.

There was a time when slavery was deemed acceptable by society. A time where women couldn't vote. Black people weren't allowed to sit on a bus, only white men could. We look back now on these eras wondering what were people doing to each other.

What I'm saying is that intelligence also evolves over time. Speciesiscm is a form of slavery, deeming one life more worthy than the other.

I understand that, but I don't look at human beings from that time as sub-human which seems to be what you're implying.

Not for a moment am I implying that.

If you understand the concept of Speciesiscm, then you already believe in veganism :)

I meant I understood the point about practices humanity used to believe were appropriate. I suggested animals aren't intelligent unless you stretch the definition, you then suggested that humanity as it currently is may not be considered intelligent by future generations. If you're suggesting animals are intelligent on the same level as we will be viewed by generations in the future, you're suggesting that people in the past were subhuman. Unless I've misunderstood you which may well be the case.

Regardless, everyone will have their own views. Personally when I have meat free meals I feel full for about 20 minutes and then get ridiculously hungry again. Meat fills me up for the whole night. Simply 'eating more' isn't always the answer as it would mean having several dinners 20 minutes apart!

When a cow posts something on here that gets 10 likes I'll give up meat

People with lower intelligence than that have managed more likes for posts - just check out Faith. ;)

I'd say you've over thought that one mate. It's nowhere near as complex as you've thought.

I hear that quite often about not being full enough, and yes the answer is simply that you haven't eaten enough or consumed the right nutrients. Anyway, I recall you saying you're an avid book reader? I think so anyway, might be wrong.

But I think a book that you would like which really taps into what I'm talking about is this:

Explains it much better than I have. You might find it worthwhile.

What a can of worms I opened there. Have already told family members, if I go vegan they have my permission to shoot me. **** that, would rather be dead.

But what I'm saying is I'll be quite full and satisfied when I eat a meat free meal, but I'll be quite hungry again 20-30 minutes later. I can't eat much more when I'm initially eating as I'm full, maybe it's an issue of what I eat, not sure.

I'm not vegan but I can certainly appreciate the thought process behind it. And I understand there's a certain hypocrisy every time I eat meat. Which probably makes it even worse but I'm comfortable with it.
