No, I’m just disappointed
Read that. Thank god that he wont be there for us to potentially draft him.
My thoughts exactly.

In what way?Whats the story with the promises. I just don't see the advantage in it to be honest.

Again, no idea. Could have a thing to do with a team being really high on a player who they think will, during workouts and etc go up on other peoples radar and trying to secure them like that. From a player perspective skipping workouts because of a promise... I don't know..?Whats the story with the promises. I just don't see the advantage in it to be honest.
You guys wouldn't be happy with Rivers in the late teens? I haven't seen a lot of his play but definitely seems worth it at that range. Going through draft interviews, Rivers is the guy I was most impressed with. Spoke like a pro, not that it amounts to much, but was still impressedMy thoughts exactly.

That's like drafting Wes Johnson because has a winning smile and a firm handshake. Oh wait.....
I won't hold myself out as a college ball expert, I rarely watch it, but one of the sites I visit to contribute (but mostly learn) has a strong stats bias. I posted the link earlier. They reckon Rivers is all show, no substance. Same with Barnes.
Fair enough but Rivers seems to have pretty good handle and the ability to penetrate/ beat his player. I have heard Barnes being called the SF version of Nick Young.
He can certainly get into the lane and draw fouls. But shots 65% from the line.

I like Barnes but he is more of a systems guy than a first option scorer. When I say systems guy, I think of guys like Rip Hamilton, Kevin Martin, Peja Stojakovic et al.Average handle.
And as Mess said, his biggest strength (drawing fouls) is completely disvalued with his poor FT shooting.
He doesnt rebound, and doesnt create for others.
Also pretty average defensively.
Barnes is no Nick Young. Barnes has potential to be a first option scorer.

The guys that can be effective scorers in the right system designed to get them free. We are talking about guys who cannot create their own shot but need a system in place to run them off screens and spot up situations of kick outs that make them effective.
Barnes is not the guy you give the ball to and let him go to work. He is the guy where you call out a play and he comes off a screen or a double screen to create enough separation to get the shot off.
Those sort of guys are VERY rarely first option on winning team and that's assuming you would call Hamilton #1 option on the Detroit teams which I am not convinced is the case.
First option guy are the ones that are able to create for themselves and others and Barnes is not that guy. Not at this stage at least.

I don't disagree with that at all. In the right team, Barnes could be a very valuable player just like RIP was in Detroit and Peja was in Sacramento.Provided you have the main pieces in place, a guy like that is invaluable. Efficient without requiring a high usage rate to do it.
Sources say the Cavs offered (the Hornets the) No. 4, No. 24, No. 33 and No. 34 for No. 1. And sources said the Cavs got a firm and quick “No!”
