All year, i have been very impressed with Blake.
But, just versus port, i saw him get DOMINATED and overpowered by Lade and Brogan, with tabs down to shaun Burg resulting in goals. Sure, those guys are good ruckman, and not many teams have 2 ruckmen like that, but i'm sure king wouldnt be overpowered like that.
So, who do we want for the finals side?
Thanks

I think the Brisbane game is Blake's big chance to shine.

He'll be going up against inexperienced ruckman so if he can dominate
then i'd go with him through the finals.

Anything less though and I think King might get the nod.

the main reason i would like to see king back in the side is because i think he has more potential to do more damage around the ground by way of disposal.

To be honest, I was a little surprised King didn't get picked this week. I guess the plan is to run with Blake, but I'd have thought King might be the better option when the game gets willing. But hey, good luck to Blakey. He certainly has earned it this year!

Blake deserves his chance ahead of King, and its been disappointing that Kingy hasn't been able to stamp his authority on the game with the great chances he's had.

I think we need to try and make sure that if we stick with Blake and Ottens as expected in the finals, that we send Ottens back for the defensive 50 stoppages, as Blake seems a little out to sea against top ruckmen like Lade, who can cause a lot more damage up forward...as was particularly evident last week.

I got the mail, that king is very pissed he missed this week after a strong showing in the twos. has pretty much resigned himself to the fact that he may have laced up for the last time at geelong. Really wants to play on (anywhere), and still believes if given the chance, will perform in finals.

Blake. Disappointing last week but coming back from two weeks off and running in to without doubt the best ruck combination in the game was never going to be easy.

Yes, it is a bit premature calling for King to retire...he is not even 30 yet, and with a big frame he can still be an asset for the next few years, especially if he is managed well and no longer has to burden the no.1 ruck position by himself! I mean you only need to look at guys like Rehn, Salmon, Everitt for evidence of older ruckman who have had a strong influence.

I really hope that he gets a crack in the finals - he does have the ability to do more damage then Blake. Blake is a champ, and he will get better, but he did get beaten convincingly last week and his disposal is not up to scratch just yet, besides he does not provide the leadership and experience that King can and within finals that is invaluable!

For me, it has to be King this year, and i hope we can offer him another 2 year contract at the end of the year and allow him to see out his career at the Cats.

I haven't seen anything in King's games to suggest he is a better option than Blake. He has a bigger body but rarely uses it - Blakey is a little more athletic and seems to fit the running game plan a bit better. If King actually used some of his size with a bit of aggro to back it up, he'd be much more valuable, but he just hasn't imposed himself on a game this season.

Go with Blakey.

Blake is still a long way off being a big power ruck.
Against 2 A grade rucks as port have he got smashed, which made Ottens play more than normal. King Doesnt not get brushed aside and against those type of players (Brogan and Laide) King gets done against more agile ruck men but against beast he holds his own. If we play Port again he will be in, Eagles he would be in. For the roos or Hawks Blake.

King had his chance to shine against Adelaide's two rookie rucks a few weeks back and put in one of the softer ruck displays I've seen. He came out and repeated the dose against the Roos.

He's finished and should not be considered for the finals.

Well said. At least King has now shaken off his injuries. He's certainly making it hard for the selectors, had another very good game in the reserves and kicked a monster goal.

A good pre-season could see him back to his very best. 3 good ruckmen is great asset to have.
