Any player can submit a side if the captain doesn't appear to be able to do so. The timing for submitting sides was in this thread from the start and was even a day earlier than needed.What?! Doc hasn't even been on! That is crap.

Considered splitting the deadlines in a trial?
Given that SoO has a makeshift temporary leading structure of individuals of various experience in the role itself and protocols associated with it, perhaps it's worth a shot seeing if a "2 staged release" of teams is a viable alternative. IE;
25th -> 27th would see;
Captains deadline: 27th
Nominated Deputies: 25-26th
For team submission, thus effectively attempting to outline/regulate the secondary leadership structure, so using Vic Metro as an eg with the top two people;
Easty would be able to submit until the captains deadline whilst Freakie would be able to submit until a day beforehand.
You still have the three tiered system (captain - VC - regular member) just an attempt to further define the second need to happen in a small way in my view since this is where the primary source of problems/disagreements arise from.

The threads weren't even up on the 25th. With two games a week having seperate deadlines would just be a nightmare.
I think the rules - as they are - are fairly simple: someone has to post the team by the deadline. It doesn't matter too much if multiple people post different lineups because you take the most senior one or the one closest to the deadline if they're of the same seniority.
Or, you know... the captains could do their job.

I understand the sentiment but off the top of my head I can name 15 people who deserve it more.
The medals aren't done based on stats they are done based on league contribution. Except the Afl Andrews medal and dont get me started on that.

Lioness is a good choice, other than AlfAndrews she's the only player with a medal named after them who really deserves one.
Logger's wrong though about the Roys. Yeah she played a lot for us, but she also took over captaincy of the Titans for some years and had league goalkicking wrapped around her finger there. Hasn't kicked near as many goals with the Roys.
