Where do we stand with European qualification now?

Top 5 get champions league plus the winner of United and Spurs.

Palace are in the Europa league plus 6th place.

Newcastle are in the conference league plus 7th place? And if Newcastle qualify for the champions league or europa league through the league their conference place will go to 8th place.

Is that right?
Didn't Newcastle get Europa League for winning the League Cup?

EDIT: Oh wait, that's conference league now nvm,

My understanding is 6th / 7th & Palace get Europa.

8th/9th conference.

Looks about right. I was trying to figure out what happens if Chelsea wins the Conference and finishes in the top 6 in the PL. I don't think their Europa place drops to another English club. UEFA does some kind of 'redistribution' across the qualifying clubs.

That makes their cup win redundant in terms of qualifying for Europa as they would either have qualified for CL or Europa though league placings.

This would be an extreme example but I wonder what would have happened in this scenario:

Top 5 in PL qualify for CL through coefficient
PL team wins CL from 10th position (CL qualification)
PL team wins Europa from 17th position (CL qualification)
PL team wins FA Cup form 14th position (Europa qualification)
PL team wins Conf from 11th position (Europa qualification)
PL team wins League Cup from 13th (Conference qualification)

In that instance you have 7 PL teams in the CL (although I am not sure if the 5th place is removed in this scenario).

4 teams in Europa (6th/7th & FA Cup / Conference winner)
3 teams in Conference (8th/9th & League Cup winner)

14 PL teams playing European football. Guess if this highly absurd scenario ever happened the majority of PL teams couldn't complain about fatigue from mid week European fixtures.

The sooking continues (BBC)…

On the clubs fighting to be in the Champions League next season, Pep Guardiola said: "Newcastle won the Carabao Cup, Liverpool won the Premier League and Manchester City won the Community Shield. The other teams didn't win anything..."

I do agree it needs a different name than the 'Champions' League.

Obviously winning a Community Shield is irrelevant.

Champions League is just a marketing term. Only around 20% of qualifying teams have won their league ie been champions. When it comes to the main stages of the competition it's a cup not a league.

Tottenham had the better season than Arsenal. Not even a debate.

No one cares about a semi final. A second in the league.
No. One. Injuries? So what. Buy better players

Arsenal fans are the most annoying, mind numbing base. Topped up with Arsene Wenger having a whinge.

"Liverpool have won the title with fewer points than we have in the last two seasons. With the points of the last two seasons, we would have two Premier League titles." Mikel Arteta May 6th

Comparing Liverpool to Arsenal is that not?

"I don't like to compare to other teams" - May 22nd

Mikel Arteta on being asked if Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur have had a better season.

Arsenal had a better season but at the end of the day Spurs were more successful.

I’m not a fan of this sort of crap though. Like why is Arteta being asked who had a better season in his press conference? The journalist even sounded embarrassed asking it. It’s just cheap, boring content intended to feed the cesspit online banter brigade.

Kevin Danso was asked if had had a quick message for the Arsenal supporters. Football journalism has become all about clickbait.

I can’t stand it. Even on the 5 live coverage they had a debate about who had the better season literally 10 minutes after the game just so they can have a dig at Arsenal. It’s so childish.

I agree, and I hope that wasn't what came across as my intention.
Was just showing he's quite hypocritical when it suits, depending on whether or not he can spin an angle or excuse.
