Yeah Shearer was the only one I could think of which is rather obvious and a strange thing to randomly bring up.

Yep it's a bit too obvious if that was the question. The question itself though and it's relevance remain a mystery.

Patiently awaiting to see what this is all about....

Yeah different everything probably. Happened back in the 70's.

In legal terms Chelsea FC is still the same entity so you'd have to deal with any legal action arising out of it. Sounds like you've acknowledge the club was at fault and have offered settlements in any case.

Contracts mean so little though in today's world.
Rather cynical. A sign he's undoubtedly happy where he is.
He had a deal through to 2020 so he didn't have to sign a new one. But did.

They're not worth so little, they give protection to both club and player alike.
Even if he unexpectedly wanted out 2022 means it'd have to be a brilliant offer and likely not in England. Quietly confident he'll see it out and probably be captain by the end of the deal.

Sure, I hope he sticks around too. But contracts mean little nowadays. He probably signed because it was more money. It's not like he signed a new deal for two more years on the same money.

It was more money. In this instance a contract isn't pointless.
He'd have to get to Bayern/Barca/RM level of player to contemplate leaving.

He wouldn't be sold to an English club. Not that I'm worried.
He's going nowhere anytime soon.

United have been sniffing around for a while. You have a tendancy to sell to them. Spurs need success or of course he may think about leaving. Wont be for a while yet though.

We won't sell him to United. He'd have to wind his contact down to get there.

Why wouldnt you sell to United if he's going to leave and they come up with the best offer.

Theres such an insecurity about selling players within England nowadays.

Kane not playing well enough to be interesting United at the minute. I hope he does get their attention, which would indicate that he will start banging them in again. Being tied down to a contract just means you'll get good money for your player. We all know it doesn't necessarily follow that the player will be there for the entire duration of the contract

Appears you were on the money

Chelsea could face action if they paid ex-player who suffered abuse

All clubs who paid hush money or ignored it will be in big trouble and so they should be.
Huge fine - then plough that money into victim support for the abused.

Oh and relegate the clubs also to send out a strong message

Absolutely, I was never disagreeing that they will be as the club is its own legal entity, I just think it's one of those unfortunate cases where the people who should be punished can't.
