Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that modern-day players are becoming harder to handle because of their addiction to social media and smartphones.

Former Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid boss Ancelotti, 57, has tweaked his approach to players due to "a phenomenon" that he calls "the loneliness of the smartphone."

"The players isolate themselves in that way," Ancelotti told Suddeutsche Zeitung.

The Italian now avoids keeping his players in training camps or instructional sessions for too long because "some of them spend three hours stuck to the screen."

"If the players are at home, they have to speak to their wives and children," he said. "When I was a player, there was intensive interaction at training camps.

"We played cards, table football, table tennis -- above all we spoke to each other. Now we almost only speak with each other when we eat together.

"Discipline, compliance with the rules and respect are important to me. I'm not obsessive about it but I am definitely able to get my way.

"Otherwise I try to talk to everyone and, more importantly, listen to everyone."

Jod is picking his players off table position and playing the role in his desired formation. Makes sense.

But then picks Azpi at RB when he has played LB and RCB for the past 18-24 months lol. May as well put Pedro in there at LB over Bertrand RW and LB aren't too dissimilar and Chelsea have more points that southampton.

Also how's Bertrand in if Southampton have less points than Arsenal and Spurs and most would say there's little between Rose, Nacho and Bertrand?

Holes. Holes. Holes everywhere
I dont know if it's holes everywhere. More just an opinion. Nothing is definite mate.

Only sith lords speak in absolutes.

Nah there's holes to the real world. But don't change jod we love the bias / contradictory analysis deep down ;)

Poor jod. I mean all he has done is write down his opinion of who the best players are this season for a bit of fun and is being criticized for inconsistencies in his selection policy and for "very simplistic analysis" as if he should have sat down and studied properly before presenting his findings.

And all just because he didn't include a couple of Spurs players.

If you're going to post a team of the year on a forum you're inviting for it to be picked apart. Right Bojan KantKick
I'll post the official team of the season at the end of the season.

And yes, Rooney is captain in a christmas tree formation.

Lloris
Valencia - Luiz - Van Dijk - Bertand
Lallana - Kante - De Bruyne - Hazard
Sanchez - Costa
De Gea - Azpilicueta - Rose - Coutinho - Mane - Ibrahimovic - Lukaku
I think the front 6 speak for themselves, same with the bench spots in the midfield/attack. Not sure who else you'd even consider. Defence is trickier. Wasn't sure with Valencia/Walker and Rose/Bertrand. You could argue for Azpilicueta over Luiz, and De Gea/Courtois over Lloris. Van Dijk probably the only nailed on selection for the back five.

Suddenly loves it cos it includes Walker and Rose. :D
It didn't include Lloris where this all started. Wouldn't have cared if it didn't have them, at least it had a RB at RB and no Sideshow Bob

Luiz though has been really bloody good??
Has he or has he simply not been the best two?
Azpi, Matip, vVD and Mustafi have all been brilliant also. As has Vertonghen. Those two spots are hotly contested imo as there are quite a few.

There's always this effort....
