If his calls on the footy show are anything to go by, you should sink every cent you have on a top 4 finish.

Jesus, is it just me or does it look like he has aged 10 years since he retired?

Is it just me or did he not mention his beloved Hawthorn once?

Oh...one of the big improvers.

And what a big prediction that we'll slide. We can't go any higher.

Not the first person to make the big call that its will be the Dogs year! And so the pressure starts to build , get used to boys, do it this year or your gone ... so they say.

Meanwhile , we basically have added no obvious improvements to our list , our players are all older , have been given a deliberate slow build up , will be effected by Stokes and Ablett issues and will probably have lost the real desire.Of course we will drop from the top 4 , Im surprised he didn't have us out of the 8.

You know I find it exceptionally hilarious that while our 30-32 year old players are just supposed to suddenly wither to nothing and suck, the bulldogs host of 33-35 year old players are expected to step theirs up and win a flag.

spot on, last year the bulldogs had an older side on paper than we did .Considering that we lost harley and they got hall i assume they will still be older than us this year.

the bulldogs very heavily depend on akermanis and johnson to beat the top sides , last year in the finals series they were both out of puff and had 0 impact .

can somone tell me were we stand age wise compared to the bulldogs and st kilda ?

their seems to be a myth out their that we are a much older side than both these teams, last year the bulldogs had a slightly older list than us and we had a slightly older list than the saints , whats the situation this year ?

Good point which I guess the numbnut overlooked when writing his crapfest.

Geelong players 30+ : Milburn,Mooney,Ottens,Scarlett
Bulldogs players 30+ : Akermanis,Eagleton,Hall,Hudson,Johnson

Let's not forget another so called expert [Throbbie] wrote Geelong off in mid 2009 and listed the players past their used by date, which was fairly well anyone over 26 yo.

I'm not bright enough to know whether your last para is replete with irony or not, Turbo.

Tongue in cheek for sure. The thing is , one can almost make any assertion this time of year. Its almost as serous comments have the same weighting as wild , stab in the dark guesses. For eg. one could just as easily make the case that the break for our senior players will have them fresh and raring to go or that the Stokes thing could actually make them an angry tight group , the against the world etc. Certainly our main group are at their peak and we should be just as capable as we have been in the last 3 years.

My Guess
If we have a bad run with injuries with critical players we could easily finish where he has guessed , on the other hand, we could easily finish on top if say Otten's has a B&F year or if 2 or 3 of our fringe/new players like Hogan,Laidler or Duncan become significant players for our best 22.(Just like Byrnes did last year)
A Dogs V Cats GF would be my preseason guess but who the hell really knows. Be a hell of a game but and I wouldn't mind us against the Dogs in a GF

St.Kilda v Bulldogs GrandFinal

is not a stupid prediction.Especially after the distractions of late.Pressure on the dogs, especially if they perform early as they usually do.

My predicition is a Geelong v Hawthorn Grandfinal

Dogs will crack under the scrutiny and a confused midfield, and St.Kilda will not evolve and still be deflated.

Oh noes.

An angry midget man with zero credibility predicts Geelong will fail this year.

What ever shall we do?

:o

what would be concerning for this Geelong fan would be if any other Geelong fan actually took any notice of what this idiot thinks

His comments here aside, methinks Shane has more nous than you give him credit for. He plays the fool on the poor man's excuse for a footy show to great effect. However, he's cut out a very lucrative post footy career for himself in the media and in horse breeding. Not that many ex players are so successful post footy.

He's just plying his new trade as a middle of the road journalist which is different to when he was a footballer in the media. Now he just has to say what everyone wants to read or expects to read or is excited to read hence the subsequent success of internet football forums :thumbsu:

Yes I used to write him off as a clown playing the clown
something which he is not.He might not be in the Mike Fitzpatrick catergory but at the same time he is not unintelligent. If he can limit his time on the Footy Show ,well I am not his manager but you get what I mean.
