Pasta is a meal you can feed an army with, it's a boil up the sauce and stir through mildly warm pasta dish.

E-eeasy.

Little bits of bacon, fine chopped spring onion, creamy white sauce.

You could make enough for ten people with about $15

I remember the good old days when veal parmigiana as big as your plate was $1

A proper veal parmi shits all over the chicken alternative from an immense height.

Can't remember the last time I saw one outside of a couple of old-school Italian places though.

Probably needs it. Its a nightmare there during the day.
Roundabout? Or lights there and remove the ones at Winthrop Drive for a roundabout? I don't think it's really going to solve anything. Instead of just the log jam of people waiting to turn right onto Norma you're going to have everyone being held up by more traffic lights.

Is there a right turn coming off Norma onto Leach or is it a left hand-turn only?

If it's a right hand turn you would need to create one heck of a big roundabout to do this.

Perth loves traffic lights where there should be a roundabout, a roundabout where there should be nothing and traffic ****ing calming measures on every suburban street.

Orrong Road is another where there's traffic lights every 1km or so. Then they have to try and synchronise the lights because they hold traffic up.

It will most likely help the log jam of cars coming off norma in the afternoon. Anyone trying to use businesses there struggle to get through. Someone crashed there the other day too.

Orrong Road is awful at peakhour.

How about that homicide scene in South Fremantle? The old bloke in there used to sit out the front with his king browns yelling all sorts of gibberish at people. Someone'll be chuffed to inherit that block though, couple of townhouses could fit on it easy...

That would be incredibly stupid and dangerous. You would have large heavy vehicles having no warning of having to come to a stop as cars dart through on the turn. With lights you can put up the advanced change warning ones. Also people fail at single lane roundabouts, let alone a 3 lane one.

Fair points but if we had Roe 8 would the trucks even be on Leach?

I just find the thought of having traffic lights here and here

on a highway a bit ****ing ridiculous.

We should build an Arc de Triomphe there

I'd hate to think of the amount of accidents that would cause with the drivers here.

If I was ordering pasta from a pub I'd probably just assume it's from a packet.

And not order it.
I think some people might be surprised that it's not just pubs. I mean I wouldn't expect to get packet pasta at Villa D'este (and haven't) but some other pasta slinging joints I'm sure would use it. Once you've had fresh pasta that's been made that day or made yourself it's pretty easy to tell I think.

I don't entirely get the point of going to a middle of the road, average sort of Italian place. If you go somewhere a bit more expensive then obviously you're going to get (you'd hope) great food and probably stuff that's a bit too difficult, time consuming, or expensive to make at home. And a nice bottle or two of vino. But spending $50, 60 a head on some pasta, bread, and Peroni is pointless. Not to mention the fact it's generally not really that good for you at all. There's a reason every business on Lygon Street is just about struggling: either they aren't filling seats or they're businesses that rely on foot traffic.

If you cook similar stuff at home, you can also make it way healthier and it's generally piss easy and pretty fun to make. I gave up the carbs and stuff a while ago and don't like eating too much meat, so finding substitutes for typical white pasta is easier, using vegetables to fill out 'meatiness' in lasagnas. Plus a carton of Peroni red, which they actually drink mostly in Italy, is about 35 bucks... good luck getting four Nastro Azzuris for that at El Dolci Vesuvio...

Having some good lamb, sauce, seafood, and a good bottle of wine and doing it once or twice a year and spending 85 bucks a head = get it
Spending 60 dollars on a saucy, meaty carb-fest and some beers brewed in an outer suburban Australian factory with an Italian label = don't get
