Retired people are the worst. Proper old people aren't a problem. The just sit around all day in their chairs not hearing each other and getting up to get the paper and make a cup of tea is a big deal.

Retirees in their 70s are nimble enough to be a nuisance and don't have enough to keep them occupied. Pretty much all shops are open business hours Monday to Friday. Some are open Saturday and Sunday, some are open late night Thursday and some are open late night Monday to Friday. In a given week if you want to go to Coles for example it's open for about 80 hours. I think my nearest IGA is open about 100 hours a week. When do these ****s go? No not Tuesday at 10am or Wednesday at 2pm when the shops are quiet - they go every day during the after work/after school rush and on Saturdays.

tbh what I hate is the dick-heads that drive big 4wds that have never seen an inch of a dirt road in their lives.
Yep, they should be like guns, you have to use it for its intended purpose once a month or you don't get one.

Yes it is.

A choice between cyclists riding at 50km/h on a footpath with children walking to school or doing 50km/h on a road where people sitting down in their climate controlled boxes listening to music might be slightly inconvenienced is a pretty easy one to make.

Except most bikes aren't going 50km/h but other than that great snark.

So why'd you go with 50?

And whatever speed they go it's clearly not too fast or they wouldn't be allowed to ride there.
I thought it was illegal to ride on the footpath if you're over 12?

I went with 50 because the lycra team can hit that.

Riding on the footpath can be the most dangerous spot because reversing cars and the bike rider often can't see each other.
Not to mention dogs on leads, children suddenly dodging sideways for no reason, people walking in a line across the whole path, people walking in the middle of the path wearing headphones that don't hear the bell until your right near them where they turn their head and their body follows them into the path you're going down.

It's silly for pedestrians and cyclists to occupy the same space. The footpath is occupied by those who have no ability to look after themselves, people on the road at least claim to have a license or at the least parental permission to ride their bike down the side of the road.

Yep, I hate it. When I ride to my gym there's a section of road with a bike lane with sections where the bike lane converges onto the footpath. Would just stay on the road but it's a narrow section hence the cycle lane ends.

By far and away the best place to ride a bike in Perth (other than trails) is those purpose built red bike paths. Which the Tour de France set avoid.
