They should paint the Freeway different colours. One lane for bikes, one for motorbikes, the rest for cars.

You can mark it down that the cyclists wouldn't stay in their lane, the motorcyclists would ghost around other motorcyclists and encroach on the lanes around them and the motorists would sit there daydreaming about swerving over the lot of them.

Okay ignore that and insert the dozens of other reasons then.
There aren't good reasons. Cars are registered based in part on weight to make a small contribution to road costs, bicycles weigh nothing and cause no damage to roads. Cars are registered because they are lethal weapons, bicycles are not. The cost of registering bicycle riders would greatly exceed any money you got back through registration and the bureaucracy required to register 1 million new bikes a year would be impractical. Most adult bike owners are also car owners and contribute in other ways. Do you register children's bikes, because that just seems silly. Do you put licence plates on them, because that's just impractical.

And for anyone who says, well, you can report a cyclist breaking the rules, think about how many times you've seen a car break the rules and how many times you reported them. Also, police can't just take your word and charge someone, they need evidence. If they see a cyclist breaking the law, they can charge them without registration required.

It's an absurd suggestion, driven mostly by people who see a cyclist skip through a red light and seethe at being stuck in congestion (something cyclists reduce). And even though they shouldn't do it, a cyclist breezing through a red light tends to act as a pedestrian, slow down and look before heading through, not ploughing through like a car would and killing someone. They are not comparable issues.

You said there were dozens of reasons but don't talk about any of them. I'm beginning to think you're not that keen on keeping cyclists off the road at all.

Why can't they ride single file in the lane that's been specifically created for them to use? It's like their own private road.

Because they aren’t safe - the runoff from the rains apparently make it a minefield of trash, sand, branches etc.

I was informed of this by some “professionals” that were hogging all the chairs, sipping on their water at the local coffee shop

tbh what I hate is the dick-heads that drive big 4wds that have never seen an inch of a dirt road in their lives.

They're always the w***ers who drive right up to the line at the T-junction when they're turning right too, which blocks the view of anyone turning left so they have to sit there for ages or risk turning blind out in front of oncoming traffic.

Show some consideration for your fellow drivers and stop a metre short of the line you self-absorbed dicks.

The dicks that drive these 4WDs and SUVs often say that one of the reasons they drive them is that it gives them a better view of traffic while ignoring the fact that everyone else's view of traffic is worse due to them and they also tend to be some of the worst and least considerate drivers on the roads as they think they can do as they please since they have a bigger vehicle.

I wonder if anyone has ever got done for riding a push bike on the road drunk.

A mate in the navy, from tassie, was one of three passengers in a car when the driver blew over .2.

The driver was taken away so they decided to drive home despite also being drunk. The cops were waiting around the corner, with the second driver blowing over .2.

The two remaining bright sparks decided to steal push bikes, riding around the corner only to be done for stealing and blowing over .2.

Was funny a few years back when a Greens senator was found out as having a V8 Landcruiser as a 2nd car. What a hypocrite.
