GWS' own Stephen Cognilio was running mount street and Jacobs ladder at lunch time today. Fair to say he was getting up mount street a lot easier than most.

I know when my Grandma was in a (private) home it was pretty expensive to get in. IIRC you basically paid a whole heap up front and the operators would use that to generate income to run the place. Then when you cark it they give some/all of if back to the family and repeat the process with the next incoming octogenarian.

For oldies who don't have much in the way of assets it would be pretty tough.
