I heard someone who had been scammed on ABC radio yesterday. How did he get sucked in so bad to go an withdraw money and give it to the guy.

Gotta be honest, when I hear about some of these scams, rather than feeling for the victims I wonder how someone so dumb can have so much money to lose.


Not so much this one, but more the online romance ones where someone loses big amounts.

In Prague even up until recently the locals were trying to rip off tourists with the Koruna fooling people they use the Euro there. It was like Itchy and Scratchy land money.

I find it unfathomable that people don't do basic research when travelling overseas. Especially Europe, where people think it's safe and fool proof because it's first or second world.

Got stitched up with a fine by some dodgy cops in a Prague train station for not having the right tickets.

We were suspicious as these guys were wearing plain clothes rather than uniforms, they flashed us their badges after we questioned them but they could've been fake for all we knew. We went to one of the ticket booths to ask if these guys were legit and they said they were but they could've been in on it.

The fine was only about 20 quid so we just paid it to get out of there, pretty sure it was a scam where they targeted naive tourists for some easy cash.

They looked more like Eastern European gangsters rather than umpires, we thought about trying to do a runner but they could've shot us, umpires would've only pinged us with a 50m penalty at worst.
