Hard to know who to believe
Not really, in this case. Allegation came from a random tweet, Synergy say they have looked into it and found nothing. Would be absolutely stupid to deny it if they knew it had occurred. The backlash would be twice as large as the initial reaction.

Ffs drivers here are really faarktarded and need to be lawfully shot n rid from this earth just selfish faarks that dont believe in braking distance even with the weather that we had today

Don't get me started on the intersections of Albany Hwy around Carousel.

Ditto Scarborough Beach Road anywhere after Main Street - absolute shit show of a road

He's entirely correct, people are paying high rates - often multiple thousands per year - for what exactly?

Why does WA need 139 local councils when Victoria and Queensland - states far bigger than us in terms of population - are in the 70s? Even NSW has less than us.

There's certainly arguments to be made around government consolidation, but he seems like a dick. Wants to be able to run a business with no oversight and seems surprised there's rules in place. Then joins a council on that single issue and has a whinge. I suspect he will provide exactly no value to other matters of importance to local residents.

Did you read what he said?

"He warned the external consultant had found “serious food safety issues” that inspectors had marked as compliant when they weren’t." That doesn't sound like the sort of thing someone who wants to run a food business with no oversight would say.

Is he being a dick? Yes? Is that a good thing, absolutely. He escalated his ongoing argument with City of Bayswater to run as a councillor because they said that the temporary (i.e. portable/demountable) toilets next to Big Don's required an occupancy permit and "presents a risk to public safety". You can hire them from Coates, Kennards etc. They are not a "risk to public safety". Councils bring this stuff upon themselves when they act like this, it's just that 99% of people can't be bothered fighting city hall. I was speaking to the owner of a now closed bar in CoB and getting approval for a 'parklet' (i.e. a little wooden thing with some tables and chairs for extra outdoor seating) outside was an ordeal. I know of a micro brewer that jumped through hoop after hoop to get off the ground in Bibra Lake, opened and ran without incident then had to shut down for several months because one of the TPS reports didn't have the right cover on it.

They should be there to provide services within their boundaries. That's the whole point of having levels of govt. It's not feasible for me to ring up my local federal MP because the bins didn't get collected or the grass at the park is getting long. It's not The Simpsons.

CoB is a pretty big LGA and home to around 70k people so there's a lot to do. If you look at their website the last two lots of minutes are "Inclusive Bayswater Advisory Group" and "Reconciliation Advisory Panel". The last lot of regular minutes is 236 pages long. Is this really what we need local councils for? Darebin Council in Melbourne is so far up its own arse they were debating what policy to have RE: flying the Palestinian flag and passed a motion to ban Nuclear weapons. I mean seriously. Each to their own but I'd just prefer lower rates.

So. $100 for 2.1 million people to spend on whatever they want cost $210 million

Or buy say 210 buses at $1m a pop?

Thoughts?
And how much more is needed for running costs?

Retire 150 of the oldest busses so fleet is newer. And 60 new ones for new feeder routes. Yes extra running costs for the smaller amount. But some savings from newer buses being more efficient. Plus from proceeds of disposing older buses

Here's your chance to name it 'Trainy McTrainface' or 'Meth Express' or something similar.

Rita pre-emptively ruled out Trainy McTrainface. She was suspiciously quiet on Meth Express though, so maybe she's a fan.

i read somewhere that they think 10,000 of the state of origin fans came from 'interstate'.
does that seem accurate
i mean assume the ones who drove, trained or bus were less than 100 people
10,000 by planes?
assume 250 per plane, that's 4 planes per 1000 people.
was there an "extra" 40 planes that landed in perth the days before the origin?
