Moving the time of day doesn't randomly add more sunshine o_O

Correct. But by virtue of having on average near 3 hours a day more sunshine than Melbourne and Sydney during summer, even if we don't introduce DST we will have more sunshine hours after work than Melbourne and Sydney.

Hence there is really no need to change the clocks in order to have more sunshine hours after work. And of course it's significantly hotter here in Perth than in Sydney or Melbourne.

Aaahhhh- at first glance, I thought you'd lost your marbles.

Funnily, I exchanged a rather weird PM about DS with some woman on here once- she just didn't get it. I tried over and over to explain but in the end, just thought "right you are, then!!" and let her think what she wanted. Lol

Yeah I understand how it works.. I'm even living in Melbourne now. DS is stupid though. Just get up earlier if you want more sunshine

Yes, the sun being up at 5am is just wonderful.

Today:

Perth 5.03am - 7.06pm.
Melbourne 5.52am - 8.25pm.

Obviously most of those hours in Melbourne it will be 18 and drizzly and the sun won't actually be out but DLS FTW.

Would rather 5am sunrises compared to 8.30 sunsets. As someone who is at work at 8am at the latest most of the week the early sunrise helps me get motivated. Trying to sleep with the Sun lingering would suck arse. I remember trying to go to bed around 8.30 with the Sun still up when i was in primary school.

I can confirm that Melbourne is not in fact 18 & drizzly. It is about 25 & stormy

It's not right now that most people don't want it. It's in March/April when the sun wouldn't be up until 7:30. That was what killed the trial. Everyone was happy until the end of the first summer then went what the **** in March. Even the people who put the trial together said it was shit and tried to scale the dates back for the second and third summers.

Which is exactly what happens in Melbourne.

We seem to manage just fine with 7.15-7.20am sunrises in winter when we don't get hours of sunlight in the evenings - I don't know why people get so worked up over it.

I was of two minds if this was the right thread or if the "Things that shit me thread" would be the more appropriate.

Is anybody being driven to distraction by the incessant cooing/mating calls of those Malaysian/Indian/Chinese (or whatever
they are) speckled necked doves.

Christ they are irritating, persistent vermin.

You brew a cup of tea and take it and the paper outside and you can guarantee, 5 minutes later the racket kicks in and the morning calm is a memory.

I believe campaigners is the appropriate phrase on this site for these thoroughly pointless creatures.

As an aside, native birds are sadly rarely heard or seen these days.

Can anybody tell me if gings are a relic of the past?

I am in Bayswater by the way.

Spleen partially vented.

Thank you.

Perth is the sunniest capital city in Australia, Darwin second.
