Well, I sat down last night and watched this "prequel".

What a load of old tosh (as me mammy used to say).

What was George Lucas thinking?

What was that fine actor Liam Neeson thinking?

Jar Jar Binks - The worst film 'creation' I have ever witnessed.

Can't wait for the other two...

ya listening to this Dan26 ?

You see mate - I'm not the only one who thinks the Phantom Menace is a piece of sh*t.

Ok - I might have got the actors name wrong - sure, a blunder on my part - but regardless of who the guy is called - it was an absolutely awful performance.

His face was so devoid of any kind of dramatic expression that I reckon the guy had a skinfull of BOTOX or something.

Truly - I've seen better acting on Neighbours - and the characters in Neighbours aren't acting, they are just playing themselves.

The Phanton Menace serves no purpose whatsoever except to remind everyone just how far standards of film making have slipped in Hollywood over the last 25 years.

It is, was, and always will be - A HOWLER, A STINKER, AN ABSOLUTELY AWFUL FILM

cheers

Too true BSA, too true...

As for Liam Neeson, yeah he was fairly ordinary in the Phantom Menace. I think he realised not long in that the film was a stinker so he decided to save his energy. He was good in Rob Roy.

I think his ponytail was tied so tight that he couldn't move a muscle on his face.

But yeah, the Phantom Menace goes straight to the top (or is that the bottom?) of my worst films ever seen list.

It's up there with Showgirls now...

Hype, marketing, the genuine anticipation of fans etc etc.

(I ask that question about Titanic as well, which is also on my worst films ever seen list).

How do you rate harry potter?

I didn't mind Harry Potter, it was a faithful retelling (a little too faithful if you ask me) of the book.

3 stars for Harry.

Any other reviews you would like?

Lord of the rings: Magnificent, 5 stars. I haven't read the books so I can't compare the film, but Ioved it.

The Wizard of Oz: Another classic, another 5 stars. Although I often think it is regarded as a classic because we all marvel at its technological brilliance, considering it was made in the thirties.

Bean: 1 star, I bloody hate Rowan Atkinson, never found his stuff to be funny. How he managed to stretch a 5 minute comic sketch into a fillum is beyond me.

The Phantom Menace was dreadful for a number of reasons:
Mainly these points however.
1) JAR-JAR!
2) Anakin Skywalker (crappy child actor)
3) Too many 'new things' (did not seem to link correctly with the original Star Wars universe)
4) Has anybody seen Podracing before? not me for one.
5) Darth Maul, while a pretty cool character he had no motivation, just a mandatory bad-guy in my opinion.
6) Too childish.

I found LOTR sheer and utter boredom for 90% of the first film, heaven forbid there is 6 more hours of this

Would of sense just to condense 9 hours into 2-3 hours

Titanic

South Park movie

Ocean eleven

Titanic: Stinker, about an hour too long. I enjoyed the technological, computer stuff - that was brilliant. The rest - pathetic. Jim Cameron is one of the most overblown, overrated directors in the industry. He should stick to Terminator type films, which he is good at. Leonardo diCaprio was a joke.
2 Stars.

South Park Movie: Funny, rude and not nice to Canadians. 3 Stars

Oceans Eleven: Haven't seen it yet, its got pretty good reviews though. As a fan of the Rat Pack era I will watch it at some stage.
Dino was THE man.

It was stunning to look at though.:D

Saw a stinker last night on the goggler-What Lies Beneath. Let me tell you, Michelle Pfeiffer's acting hasn't improved much since Grease 2.

hehe, she's all twitching eyebrows and histrionics isn't she.

Bit like our Mel Gibson, who has become very hammy these days.

It's alright I suppose.

Could do with more quality posters like yourself though.

i know, but as soon we get that carlton sucks out of the way then we can finally achieve the perfect status.

Hmmm... Originals were much better IMO!

Okay... whilst I am a fan of Star Wars, Episode One didn't appeal to me as much as the orginals. In fact, I rate it as the worst out of the lot. Why? Well, there are several factors:

1) Jar Jar Binks. What was Lucas thinking? This character was so irritating, that it somehow spolit the movie for me. Yes, I know it appeals to the little kiddies, but Star Wars was never supposed to be all "cutsey". The comic releif is so awful, that even C3-P0 was better. I can tell you, that Star Wars was supposed to be a serious saga, and not have elements which ruin it. Apparently it has, now.

2) Jake Lloyd. Couldn't they come up with a better actor? I mean, he wasn't that bad... but those corny lines like "Uh-Oh", and "Woo-hoo" during the space battle scene was not needed. A better actor would of been Haley Joel Osmont, from The Sixth Sense. Now that kid can can act.

3) The Pod Racer Commentators. Why... oh why did they have to add in the cheesy "American Football Commentating Sound-Alike". It would of been much better if the voices were alien.

4) To much appealing towards kids. We all know how much we hate stupid stuff that only kids laugh at. This was evident in the whole movie... I mean, there are other less stupid ways for the movie to appeal to kids.

5) The death of Darth Maul. How dare Lucas kill him off! He was such a cool character in the movie, and I would of loved to see fight between him and Anakin in Episode Two for a place in Palpatine's side.

5) Darth Sidious. This was to obvious... everyone knew that he was Senator Palpatine. Lucas should of done more to conceal his true identity.

That's about all I guess. And you can blame Lucas' son, Jet for Jar Jar. I believe he came up with the concept. George, George, George... you are the storyteller! Don't let your kids ruin the movie for you! ;)

I have a feeling that Episode Two will be far superior than Episode One. From what I've seen, it looks amazing., and hopefully Jar Jar Binks will perish. Perhaps that will make it up for the sins of humanity he has created in the Phantom Meance. Can't wait for Boba Fett! :D

They're all yours Dan! ;)
