The original guernsey revealed at The Entertainment Centre back in 95 had an all black back and looked great. Unfortunately they introduced the white number panel and it didn't look as good (pay attention those wanting the same done to our current home masterpiece) but was still superior compared to the sbs and lightning bolt.
I never said it was trying to be, I just think it is obviously a design to appear to historical in aesthetic. Remember when we bagged the camries, and rightly so! For their pretend monogram/logo?It's not a retcon and it's not trying to be. It's just a simple and easily recognisable logo that fits really well on a hat
I don't like the monogram, it is pretend history retcon. Unfortunately the Port Adelaide logo is a creation of the 90s, like it or not. Prior to that we had the magpie circle.

BANG!Nah but it really doesn't have a retcon, faux-retro feel at all for me. It feels natural where it fits into the Magpies/Power/PAMonogram logo pantheon.

I would say we need to change it 20%, however any variation just wouldn't be the same! we nailed it first time around...I'd love to see the exact wording of the patent upon putting the uppercase letters P and A together in a monogram.![]()
Carlton? A monogram? Nah we're safeWill be pissed if Adelaide, Collingwood, Carlton, Fremantle, Hawthorn, St.Kilda trump us and sport a monogram logo, or develop one to dominate Australian pop culture over the next few years!
Speak for yourself. I'm 46 and I don't cringe at the stuff I'm wearing when I dig out old photos. Must just be you.

For all the noise made in this thread, this is probably the idea they'll end up putting into practice.
New Era own what?BANG!
Now we are one club again, Power in one Competition, Magpies in another, the PA Monogram would be absolutely ideal to play two teams known as two nicknames under the one banner. Dead argument though, New Era own the rights to its use!
So I guess the Yankees don't own copyright to the NY monogram either?New Era own what?
The letters P and A next to each other? Bullshit! I have a cousin called Peter Allen and he has always been known as PA.He goes for the Crows but I am sure he would let you put his initials on a hat.
Wouldn't be a patent. It's just how copyright works.
Unfortunately the rights are owned by the person/company that executed the design not the company that commissioned the design. It's beholden upon the commissioner of the work to negotiate rights transfer as part of the deal.
I'm guessing someone didn't read the fine print when putting the original order through.
Neville Yusef? So I guess the Yankees don't own copyright to the NY monogram either?
