His improvement this year has been great to watch.
His aggression is something we have been lacking for years, apart from Mitch Robbo.
We need to hold on to him .

We've won 18 this year. I think we won 17 last year.
Thats awesome. If people from the outside cant see our vast improvement they have rocks in their head. A few more performances like this will bring some crowds back to the gabba.

Yep. In 2017 we've won 18 quarters at a rate of 33%.
Last year, we won 17 in total at a rate of 20%. Not that we need stats to justify how we're going - today was evidence enough.

The biggest problems for my mind last year were
1. the players getting to the games overcooked with insufficient physical capacity to play out the game as a result of over training and
2. Players trying to fit practice tactics to the game situations. When they had the ball it looked like they were trying to work out which scenario they were in and then apply the "correct" solution. This is really old style - the old hours of lane work to perfect the kick then learn what to do during performance. This is coaching by checklist. Looks great at training, but doesn't translate well to dynamic game situations.
The things that I see as most positive this year are
1. The training load is reportedly being managed individually. We have way less injuries and players are running out games.
2. The players are making decision on field as they go. This is consistent with modern dynamic systems principles of training - that is, learn what to do then perfect the execution during simulations. Often looks messy at training as players aren't running from cones in set plays but is more representative of what they all actually encounter when it matters. And it improves decision making massively as evident in our whole team. lewy is no longer making crop circles on the field.
Love that the second oldest coach in the league (I think that's right) is bringing us up to date with current best practices.

I love this game plan. It has a meaning, it has a purpose. You can se how it's starting to 'click' with the playing group and what I find refreshing is that NEAFL players come in and know where to run, where to look and where to kick. No more seperate game plans for Reserves or Seniors.

Its is funny to see us all so happy with 3 wins for the year so far.
But it really is true about the small wins.
And the best part about that at the moment, is that we can all see them.
The positive part in all of this is that we can actually see a future. FINALLY.
And even better, so can the players.
Kudos to all involved with the club at the moment. Especially Fagan. My man crush!
Walker in the backline, clearly more chance to make it as a defender than a forward. Really good hands and body position when he isn't the one having to be the target. I think he will become an absolute rock for us down there.
Bastinac, playing a role as the efficient user of the footy in the forward half, still picking and choosing when to go defensively but is getting harder at it.

I'm a fan of Walker down back as well and with that hairline it's easy to forget he is still only 24 years old.
I thought the best part was Walks had the body strength to go one on one. We have lacked that since sauce left. But sauce was never overly good one on one either. I think Walks even won a free or 2 from the opponent holding. Could be his saving grace.

Getting emotional watching all the highlights of how happy he was after the win and him putting the fist up to the supporters as he left the ground. He's 55, some would say he's too old to coach and the way he has this team playing is mind boggling from the team we have watched over the last couple of years. The group is together and they all believe that if they stick together and play the way the coaching group wants them to play that they will be a great team.
After all the crap we have been through as supporters in the last few years, we deserve this and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Fagan, you have us all believing again.
