Im sick of hearing the negatives... let me start is off gibbs 26 touchers played on goodes all day kept goodes to 7 touches 2 goals! krezz 15 hitouts against ellite ruckman also kicked a goal. Jamison didnt get a goal kicked on him! Eddie betts kciked 3! fev kicked 5! we lost to a top 4 side by 2 points a side we havent beat in 8 years! good work blue boys fought hard.

Yes I agree.

Gibbsy just continues to impress me and in my mind has very much surpassed Marc Murphy (as much as I love him).

I was pretty happy with Kreuzer, does some creative things with his fists etc.

Eddie and Fev were great.

Walker looked great...until....:(

I also forgot for a while we were actually against a top 4 side.

Gibbs was absolutely brilliant. i thought Austin was ok despite dropping an easy mark that cost us a goal. still it's only his second game.

I'm sure Jamison conceeded a couple to O'loughlin.

Hard to find positives, when you're up by 29 and let them hit the lead, then acquire a 17 point lead again... let them get a 20 point again and then do something and lose by 2.

This kind of game is the one that our players can't be positive about... they have to hurt... they have to get hungry... in the last few years after this kind of game Pagan kept talking positives saying good signs and our players got coddled a bit too much... Ratten and co I hope let them know they're proud that they tried but to allow multiple times in the game when we're up by 3+ goals to let them back in soooo easily is unacceptable!

The positives are enormous from the game today. We only just got beat by the Swans who are the best team from the modern era at snatching tight wins. Better teams in the past have wondered off the field wondering what the **** happened to the game they were winning.

Gibbs is a pleasure to watch. So, too, is Jamison's unruffled, cool style of footy.
I'm looking forward to Army's leg speed, when he get back.

Wiggins and Hartlett both showed a bit up forward and gave us a few more target. I would be disappointed if Hartlett was dropped, I think he did enough to get another chance. Austin was okay, would expect him to go back to the 2's though.

I agree with this too.

So there's another positive: Harts' hammy didn't pop :thumbsu:

Admittedly his one goal was a gift from Fev (who's more team oriented game I was happy with) but can't expect him to kick a bag or anything just yet. He should get some more games IMO.

I thought our forward line looked a lot better.

Wiggins played pretty darn well I thought, except for that uncharactistic shocker from a set shot.

Jamo, Fev, Kreuze, and Gibbs were brilliant today. Gibbs is going to be an absolute star!

On the otherhand, if Jordan Russell ever plays a game for us again i am going to throw up in my mouth a little bit. That dropped mark in the 3rd lost us momentum and the game. he can't kick for shit and he can't mark. 1 goal after 12 game at HF is pathetic. GET RID OF HIM. Carrazzo and Cloke were also absolutely shocking. Murphy and Stevens were also shat. If we kicked straight in the 1st we would have won. No excuses.

IN: Pfieffer, Armfield
OUT: Russell (spud, he isn't up to it), Carrazzo (spud)

I thought he was trying to pass it to his mum in the crowd.:o

Positives:

Gibbs - Fantastic game.

Betts - Up there as one of the best FP's in the game.

Walker - His intensity was terrific. Shame about his shoulder.

Fevola - 5 goals, could've had 7 or 8, but did the team things and look for better options. Laid some great tackles. Actually, he kicked 6 goals, and we won by 3 points......oh, wait, his goal was magically touched by the air

Jamison - Wore Mickey O like a Glove. Fantastic.

Murphy - Great skills today by the Smurph. Unlucky with the 90 degree angled bounce in the last qtr.

Has to be said, Kade Simpson did very well for me today. Twice he dived in desperation to smother the ball, one preventing an almost certain goal.

I thought Cloke did fairly well, compared to last week...although i don't trust his foot skills when he's in the backline. But his all-round bodywork around the ground was decent against Jolly.

Gibbs was an absolute champion today. In the air, on the ground, with his feet(although he miskicked once today...), with his hands. Dominated Goodes, and although he managed to get involved in the final quarter, Gibbsy can hold his head high. Tore him up over and over again.

Austin had an average game, but i won't hold it against him. 2nd game of AFL, but i wouldnt dare drop him. Defs going to contribute to our backline.

Apart from a few dirty dirty moments in the last quarter, Grigg had a decent game, and scored a ripping goal.

Disappointed we didn't come away with a win, given our scoreboard advantage, and their injuries on the bench, but the future definitely looks bright. I think if we had Jordan Bannister in to tag O'keefe, we would've won it for sure. But until then, we need more depth in some areas of our list. Ruck + Forward targets for sure.

And if anyone wants to drop Hartlett after today's game, you may as well shut the hell up. Who are we going to bring in to replace him? We're trying to build for the next few years, and develop our youngsters so we can get off to a great start next year. Hartlett and Austin should stay in the team for the next few weeks. I personally wouldn't drop anyone if we didn't have any others coming back from injuries. But if Armfield were to come back in, I'd drop the injured Walker, bring Bannister in for Russell(not because I have a vendetta against him) and Hampson for Cloke(or another, just to have 3 tall options again).

Thoughts?

so you wanna drop a guy who just got 29 possessions and close to our best.

I think we need to start with fisher and then work our way through. Anyone who can't kick the ball more than 30 meters should not be on an afl list!

Russell wasn't too bad today either.

Many, many positives :thumbsu:. It was only a year ago we were getting 100+ point thumpings every other week!

Was lucky enough to watch the most gifted SA youngster to come up through the ranks at Sturt in MOTLEY.

I am now seeing this special talent in GIBBS :D.

And dont forget the first crack at the remaining talent on draft day before richmond and Essendon now.

Are you serious? Both had shockers.

Our supposedly "gun" players in Judd, Murphy and Stevens couldn't stand up to the pressure in the clearances, we were towled in this area. Don't know why coaching staff didn't put a hard tag on O'Keefe.......

Now our finals chances are out the window - would like to see Pfieffer & Hampson come in probably for Russell and Cloke who have both had a poor last 5-6 weeks of footy.

Gibbs is a super star the kid is going to be a legend, has a great head on his shoulders and has so much time and class.

Just have to say, I was in awe of Gibbs and Walker. Athletic and skillful and hard at it. These guys are out-and-out future champions. Murphy is gonna be a clearance king, he's a real hard-nut with sublime foot skills. Judd isn't 100% yet and he still spent half a game carving us up in the center. You guys are very fortunate to have all that talent with their best playing years still ahead of them.

It was good to watch a match with a centre half forward who could bring the ball to ground,is agile and doesn't let the opposition bully him. Not a lot of possessions from Hartlett but allows our other forward options more freedom when he moves up the ground a bit or plays deep like he did in the first half.:thumbsu:

You should have stayed on topic and stopped after your positives
Russell, Carrazzo, Cloke and Murphy (in our best) all made mistakes but were not shocking

My positive - we had fewer good players than for just about any game this year and yet only got beat by 2pt by 4th on ladder (and of course the game of tadpole - see sig)

Russell was better than usual but that doesn't mean he was good. Gibbs, Jamo, Fevola, Murphy, Betts, Scotland and Walker were the ones who impressed me today.

Austin did well, Jamison continues to impress and I think we are going to have a classy player here. Murphy loves getting the hard ball sure he was a little quite but some of the things he did were wonderful. Judd didn't have a impact but we still got to within 2 point of a top 4 experienced team. Walker looked awesome until he got injured again, I think we missed Walks when he went off. We steadied when the Swans had a run on going we still lost but that to me was a great sign for the future.
