A little bit unfair on Shiels there, but I agree with the rest.

Shiels certainly isn't untalented, but you can't tell me that if Shaun Burgoyne and Liam Shiels were both as hardworking and as determined to be their best as each other that Shiels would still be the better player.

Sure but thats as realistic a scenario as the `if Brett Ebert were 6 inches taller' one.

True tenacity is a talent IMO. Its no easier to teach than foot skills or reading a ruckman's tap.

Harsh on Pearce.

Shaun Burgoyne had been carried to a premiership as a youngster by Port Adelaide, had been playing in a successful side for his whole career, and had a coach who not only gave him special treatment but openly publicly admitted to doing so. As soon as we had a couple of lean years and he didn't have Brendon Lade to spoonfeed him anymore he ran off to Hawthorn where he could lazily skulk around on a half back flank while allowing himself to be overtaken by far less talented but far harder working players like Liam Shiels.

Bullshit. He was All Australian in 2006 when we had a shit year and finished 12th with 8 wins. And no it wasn't all handed to him by Lade.

In 2008 another shit year, when we played collingwood at night at footy park he had 16 clearances at half time a then champion data record and once again plenty of those were where he won the hard ball himself not a Lade gift.

one day you will find out the real story of why he left.

I check that site a bit after concerts, mostly to see how much Adelaide often gets shafted in the set list department.

Gotta spend $200mil and build a 18,000 seat Superdome (insert whatever sponsor name it is this year) like Sydney if you want to get the big acts.

I went to a basketball match during the Olympics 1/4 final, and a few wheelchair rugby and wheel chair basketball events at the Paralympics, but these 3 shows have been my first concerts there. The acoustics there are sensational. A lot better than Brisabane Entertainment Centre where I saw his first show.

The Sydney Entertainment Centre in Darling Harbour has been basically ignored for decent sized concerts these days because the Superdome is so good, even though its almost 20kms from Sydney CBD.

Tell us, tell us. What is the real story? We never hear the real stories behind why players move on.

Where did I say that he never had a good game in a bad side?

Burgoyne debuted in 2002. In his first 6 years at the club, he played in 1 premiership, one losing Grand Final and two losing preliminary finals. Many stars of the game go through their whole careers without achieving anywhere near that much. Fair to say that being a Port Adelaide player provided him with plenty of good times. It's also fair to say that he left as soon as we started experiencing some bad times. That may not have been the only motivating factor behind him leaving, but his actions since ending up at Hawthorn have also certainly indicated that Shaun Burgoyne is all about taking the easy way out.

I'm not prepared to air it on the net, but family reasons was the biggest driver - its complex.

You didn't, but you implied he was lazy all the time.

Brendon Lade's last game for Port was Rd 22, 29th of August 2009. Shaun Burgoyne asked for a trade a couple of weeks later. You reckon he made up his mind as soon as Lade announced his retirement a few weeks before that last game?

Speaking of Brendon Lade - is it true he had a few...pointed things to say to the playing group just before he left?

I think that is fairly widely known (or rumored, at least).

Yeah. I go to Melbourne/Sydney often to see bands that don't come to Adelaide. I was just talking more the difference in set lists between Adelaide/Melbourne/Sydney of the same tour.

Yep as far as I know. Would've loved to be a fly on the wall during that exit interview.

Wow...interesting few pages.

Oh, and agree on the GOT season 3 excitement. If you have a spare hour, on the Entertainment board GOT thread is a youtube of some of the cast and producers. Is a good watch, no spoilers. Portia

Ugh it's gone on too long now.

Can somebody tell me who on earth Crows fans are referring to when they say Smack?

I'd ask a crows fan but hearing one of them gush over one of their godawful set of player nicknames would probably have me gouging my throat out with a broken bottle before they could even get an answer out.

The longest recorded flight of a chicken is 13 seconds!
Cat urine glows under a black-light!
A cockroach can live several weeks with its head cut off - it dies from starvation!

Okay that makes sense.

Still an awful nickname but that's par for the course at the crows.

They give them pet names of things they would never dare do nor trie , smack , stiffy, danger etc.
