Did I hear it right?.....Jurrah just got 16 months in jail?

Yep for punching a woman. He lucked out with chairman of the jury in his machete attack on his cousin case a few months ago, despite the guidance given by the judge.

Ladies! Make your husbands buy a Renault immediately!

A study has found that Audi drivers are more likely to cheat on their partners. The research was conducted by UK dating site IllicitEncounters.com, which specialises in helping promiscuous partners find like-minded husbands and wives.

...

The most faithful motorists appear to be those who drive Peugeots and Renaults, according to the report.

I saw Dipper in Leigh Street today. I said G'day Dipper and like Pai Mei he honoured me with a slight nod.

Punch an Englishman while making runs - I can respect that.

Punch an Englishman while not making runs -
Punch an Englishman always gets thumbs up from me. Far more fun than kick a Vic.

I have always been envious of people able to light their farts, more for their apparent willingness to do so than the ability itself.

I got accepted into the South Australian Police academy today.

Well done young fella. Spent many years way back in the dark ages. You'll experience some things which you hoped to hell to you didn't see and will stay with you forever but at the same time there's plenty of good stuff.

Stay safe young man - I sincerely wish you well.

BTW - you're the same height as me and I was on a particular squad that didn't require you to be a man mountain - just know how to use what you've got:rolleyes:

And we didn't have all that crap hanging off our belts. Although the crap pistols we had were in a holster in our right pocket and our baton was in a sleeve down our right trouser leg. Never used either.........the pistol was a ***** waste of time.

"Take that seat belt off! You're a police officer, not a bloody vicar."

I don't think El_Scorcho is actually a part of a supernatural world, a form of limbo, populated by dead police officers, guiding them to the proper afterlife.

Thanks Rexie! Without having any real knowledge yet I agree about the pistol. I like the way the English have it, general police don't carry guns.

No he was completely right on that front although I am all about the wearing of seatbelts.

What did Fry make of it? Did he have a crack?

Yes he tried it out, showed the waist part inflating which determines the percentage of weight you put down on the treadmill. He said under 62% started to feel really strange.

Mind you I don't know how it can beat his 100 greatest gadget show. My first thought was really for his number 1 pick, but the more I thought about it the more I realised it was a pretty good no.1 given man's history of inventions and needs over the years.

Just finished watching an interesting story on The Business. Regular host Ticky Fullerton went over to NZ to do a few stories. Tonight's was on a German-Finnish internet entrepreneur called Kim Dotcom. Anyone heard of him?? The intro to the story is;

"Depending on who you believe, Kim Dotcom is either a freedom fighter for the internet in the vein of Julian Assange perhaps, or a celebrity criminal who made millions at the expense of the motion picture industry." The video of the 20 minute story is at

She went to his $23mil mansion just outside Auckland. He's on bail and bunkered down waiting to see if he will be extradited to the USA on copyright infringement - a criminal charge.

He is founder of cloud storage firm Mega Upload. He is 6 foot 7 and around 300 pounds. The US government demanded the NZ have a commando style raid on his dotcom mansion premises in 2012. Footage from the 16 CCTV's on his property where shown in tonight's program. Lots of guns by the swat team. Mr Dotcom was arrested, his assets frozen, his global business shut down and computers seized. US regulators have said he has " used Mega Upload as a front for a criminal business that shared and profited from $175 million of copy right material."

His argument is his users/customers actions is what USA regulators are charging him with, he hasn't done anything wrong!! He reckons he's no different to You Tube owners. He says he hasn't uploaded or shared any copyright material. He says he isn't responsible for what his customers do. He says he has complied with 15,000,000 take down notices by copyright holders and his company has always complied.

His chief technical officer responded to a USA Dept of Justice request by saying, we are not pirates, we are just providing shipping services to pirates. Reckons it was a joke re the movie Pirates of Silicon Valley ( which is about Jobs and Gates and others starting up of personal computer industry). Said the DOJ didn't take the joke and put it in an indictment

He just won in the NZ high court giving him access to most of the evidence seized in the raid.

He started out as hacker, arrested for data espionage, computer fraud, and insider trading

The USA movie studios are after him. Reckons when the Warner came to film Lord of the Rings they negotiated $120m worth of benefits directly with John Key NZ's PM, he reckons Mega Upload were offered up on a silver platter as part of the negotiations. When pressed how does he know that, he said he will only reveal it in court. NZ PM is also tourism minister so partnership with Hollywood is important.

Since the raid he has launched MEGA, a cloud storage company but it is encrypted. Asked how big it is, he said huge, especially given latest revelation about US spying activities and prison program. Asked if MEGA will becoming main vehicle for criminals to hide content. He said criminals are already using encryption.

Sounds like an interesting and even shady character.

The Donald Mackay disappearance has been one of Australia's enduring mysteries and appears closer to some resolution this week. Hopefully there will be some closure for the family.

There has been a surfeit of articles this week recalling the events of the times and painting a picture of lawlessness, corruption and tragic incompetence. For example the sad story of Joe Keenan.

The cops, the crooks and the killing

He also knew strange things happened when citizens tried to tip off police. In 1974 an agriculture inspector named Joseph Patrick Keenan had stumbled across a group of men and women, including a fellow named Antonio Sergi from a district winery, packing marijuana into green plastic bags in a farm shed.
In rural Australia in 1974 it was an astonishing sight. When Mr Keenan reported what he had witnessed to Griffith police, Detective Sergeant John Kenneth Ellis didn't seem interested and took no statement. Within a day, Mr Keenan got a call from one of Mr Sergi's relatives informing him the family knew he had spoken to the police.
Several weeks later, the body of a man named Joseph Patrick Keenan was found floating in a canal near Griffith. He was no relation of the agricultural inspector.
Ellis, who was in charge of the investigation of the unfortunate man's death, reported at his inquest that Mr Keenan was an alcoholic and there were no suspicious circumstances. Just an amazing coincidence, apparently.

The (conveniently) lethal overdose is now the preferred option for deleting persons who are being a pest;)
