I love both, but theres no way the US version is better. Though I guess it depends on what you look for in a comedy.

So you claim that the masterpiece that is the Office is your favourite show....and then follow it up with a poo pooing of British TV.

There is no way on earth that the US rip off is superior to Ricky Gervais' original.
I knew I was going to get pinged for that but correl> gervais

but I can see brits inbetweeners being far better than US version

I don't really agree with this.

The show was still decent, not sure why they have to end it just because it isn't as great as it once was....
Which show? You quoted me talking of 2 separate shows.

The office is still my fav comedic show on tv ...
Which version? The British one was a comic masterpiece but you had to accept the cringingly horrible lives/relationships of the characters and that's not for everybody. Ricky Gervais took the Fawlty Towers approach of making something brief but great and stopping early. He then became involved with producing the American one which went on to become far better* as a comedy. Not just on screen but with the Dr Who-like rolling re-invention of the show to the point where stopping production was a surprise.

* The Office US vs The Office UK: Which comedy wins out?

Red Dwarf. That Mitchell and Webb look is fantastic though, I would reccommend the radio version if you can get a hold of it.

Fawlty Towers ended because the two writers ended up living seperately, the later episodes took months to write IIRC. Sorry to be so pendantic, but good shows usually end for a reason, not because they feel the show has run its course. For example, Black Books ended because Dylan Moran lost motivation to write it. If there is still money to be made, then make it.

The Office US is my favourite show of all time. I started watching it after I finished the UK series then watched the whole first 7 seasons within a week. Nothing comes close to it for me. Although Season 8 was pretty terrible.

I've seen the US one... It certainly has its moments. But its not in the same stratosphere.

Yeah fair enough. I liked the Office when I saw it, but now I hate Ricky Gervais so I my memories of it have been tainted.. if that makes any sense?

I basically just assume that anyone can do a better job than him, but the original office did suit him very well.

US by a mile I cant stand the UK brand of tv entertainment

Black Books is unwatchable. Old, telegraphed humour of the 'One foot in the grave' type , despite having 3 leads that are all independently funny in other things they do. Hello Black Books, the 1970s called.
... correl> gervais ...
Well yes but David Brandt was never meant to be the surreal cartoonish character that Michael Scott was. In real life Gervais wins out (Extras, An Idiot Abroad).

Anyone watch Whitechapel? I only discovered it at the end of season 3 and it was creepy, bizarre and dare I say replete with metaphor (even if a bit ham fisted).

Really liked it though and will now track down the earlier seasons.

You should go see Anchorman 2. It is pretty much Steve Carell doing what he does best - making noises and awkward humour, with some boring side story about Ron Burgundy and his son thrown in. Horrible movie.
I was only saying that in reference to the office

but I knew archorman would flop ...if you wanna talk overrated Will Ferrel is by far the most overated overpaid piece of ...... on tv
