lol Stargate

really?

Yes. Really. I never watched any Sci-Fi until I was about 42. Used to scoff at it, was bored and the TV was on some Foxtel station, probably Sci-Fi station the first episode of Stargate Atlantis was on...I was to lazy to find the remote, so I watched it. Was hooked, watched all the Stargates(except the ship series), then all the Star Treks(even the space station one). And am contemplating Babylon 5. Come at me

That would be why. Star Wars is meant to appeal to the sense of wonder in the child that resides in all of us. It's meant to be fantastical...the white knight on a journey to slay the black knight and rescue the damsel in distress. It's science fantasy, not science fiction.

If you don't have a sense of adventure and need everything explained, even in a make-believe setting, I can see why you would rate Stargate and Star Trek above it.

Ummm....don't remember rating anything above anything...think you mixed me up with someone else? I only commented that Star Wars was a part of my youth. Although, you seem to have had a nerve touched about Star Wars vs Stargate?

My bad, I thought you were the person who rated Stargate>Star Trek>Star Wars :)

And no nerve touched. Different strokes for different folks. I enjoyed the first few seasons of Stargate (pretty much until Richard Dean Anderson left the show) and used to watch Star Trek:TNG quite a bit :)

Love Stargate - the movie, SG-1 & Atlantis. Watched season 1 of Universe but not as golden as the others. Even still, Star Wars - Hope & Empire and almost peerless. Brilliant movies.

A new Stargate movie with the JJ Abrams treatment could be amazing-balls.
It is getting a reboot movie but it is rebooting the original movie and following on from that

Richard Dean Anderson was the main reason I never watched SG1, even though my kids did. Couldn't stand Macgyver, but after I got hooked on Atlantis I started watching SG1, and realised Anderson was quite a good, humorous actor. I did watch the Stargate movie after it came out on video though, but that was because of Kurt Russell

The Hilltop Hoods have been hit with a double whammy over their song Cosby Sweater.

First there is the Urban Dictionary meaning which has a sexual connotation - which the band didn't know anything about. Then just after they release the song all the BS about Bill Cosby's sexual perversions come out.

AUSTRALIAN rap stars Hilltop Hoods say they “regret” referencing Bill Cosby in their hit song Cosby Sweater and say the lyrics are not about a sex act.
The song mentions the 80s sitcom star who has since been accused of sexually assaulting a string of women in Hollywood (the song was released before the allegations against Cosby).
But ARIA-winning rap trio, who performed the song at the ARIAs in Sydney last night, say they have been inundated with emails asking what their reference to “a Cosby sweater” actually has a sexual meaning after an alternative definition for the phrase emerged.

The site Urban Dictionary suggested the term “Cosby sweater” had a sexual connotation to it. The lyrics to Cosby Sweater say: “I feel in charge like Biggie, wearing that Cosby sweater.”

In his 80s hey day, Cosby was known for wearing loud and colourful printed chunky knits on The Cosby Show. But Hilltop Hoods said Cosby Sweater was inspired by a photo of the late rapper Notorious B.I.G. wearing a “Coogi sweater” — an Australian brand of colourful chunky knit that was popular in the 80s and early 90s.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the I Love It band said: “We’ve been getting a lot of emails asking if ‘Cosby Sweater’ was inspired by the urban dictionary definition of the phrase, I can tell you right now that it has NOTHING to do with it”. “The songs about a piece of clothing. A ridiculously colourful piece of clothing,” Hilltop Hoods said in the post, as reported by musicfeeds.com.au.“To be honest we regret name checking Bill Cosby. Like some of you we’ve only recently become aware of the allegations against him.

“If he’s guilty of those allegations he can go jump in a ruddy lake. A deep icy lake.”

“Anyway, hopefully that gives some clarity on what the song’s about. Please, no more emails about the Urban Dictionary definition,” Hilltop Hoods said in the statement. “R.I.P. B.I.G.”

RDA was the highlight of Stargate, does a great job. He requested that he share the show with other actors equally as he didn't want to carry the show alone like MacGyver and it worked out great with a strong charismatic cast that bought in to it, along with awesome big budget action and sets that were uncommon for TV at the time. And a famous full frontal nudity! Take that game of thrones!

Ger I really need to get around to getting the SG1 box set.

95% of world wide hip hop is a wank. At least I can understand what about half the words are in Oz hip hop as opposed to 10% of yank, pom etc hip hop.

Stargate Atlantis started brilliantly, the first 2 seasons had some genuinely dark moments that created a very stark tone and setting compared to SG1, but by season 3 it began to become an SG1 clone, but still very enjoyable. Last 2 seasons again were like SG1 recycled, and began to wear thin pretty quick unfortunately.

Haven't watched Universe properly, but will get around to it.
