Lol...

Actually I have no idea how travel agents survive now..

They are so obsolete and their pricing is hundreds of dollars more...

Some years ago I worked with a guy (in his late 40's-early 50's at the time) who'd voice all his thoughts and ideas in the lunch room.
But my favourite comment came just after the Twin Towers collapsed. "I don't understand why the people who jumped didn't just grab an umbrella and float to the ground".

Mary Poppins, Mr Magoo, Princess Peach, Penguin, Inspector Gadget, I Dont Care, BornPort, Power Raid and 7 others like this

Had a mate in the navy who said a classic in response to 90 second shower restrictions due to limited water

"That's bullshit, I'm taking the full minute".

I still wonder if he thought time had moved to the metric system with 100 seconds
I worked with a mechanical fitter years ago who used to go on and on about the tiny tolerances he had to adjust certain components to. He was always talking in "thou", 5 thou this, 10 thou that. One day I asked him how many thou were there in an inch and his response was "there must be millions of the little bastards" o_O

And people complain about Han Solo doing the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs!

Speaking from personal experience, good travel agents are worth their weight in gold if you get stranded overseas or need to change plans.

If you book online you're at the mercy of whatever the website tells you and/or you have to deal with the airlines directly yourself. A good travel agent will have the right contacts and usually find a better solution that what you can do yourself. It's not always about the money. Time and convenience are important as well.

I guess so...

I have travel insurance which pretty much covers me for everything

I travel alot but if you don't know what you are doing a travel agent is nice...but from what I have heard travel agents arent as helpful as what you describe ..

The only reason why I was asking because I have about 3 grand worth of points on my credit card which I can use through flight centre and when went there I was blown away by their pricing some quotes were like 800 dollars more than online....crazy

Yeah, I wouldn't use flight centre - they cripple you with fees the moment you change anything.

I travel a lot as well and most times there's been no problems, other times I've been stone walled at airports by staff there and my travel agent has found a flight for me.

Twice I've been to other countries , hired a car and just driven from town to town and the gf has literally booked our accomodation at wifi hotspots as we went. Best thing ever. We went where we wanted when we wanted. I'll never go overseas and pre-plan and book what hotels I'm staying at for the whole trip. The ease and flexibility of the net just gives you so much more.

I think both ways have their charm. Stayed at the best hotel at the Grand Canyon which I needed to book nearly a year in advance, then booked an AirBNB in NYC the night before I flew there.

I'm doing a road trip around the Cascades in February, where I've booked all the accommodation, but its all cancellable on short notice if I change my mind. Its still worth doing planning of your most likely path, because the spots that you do decide to stay at from that pre-booked plan can easily end up being cheaper than if you book them on the day.

how did you not get some kind of electrical burns in said bodysuit?
Body SHIRT, not a whole suit. But even then it was advisable to trail an earthing cable. Much of the flashing lights in discos then was simply young men's clothing arcing against metal objects. Nylon, where are you now?
