Not sports related, but if anyone's of aware of the "Overly Attached Girlfriend" meme (see below), that started out with a youtube entry to some Justin Bieber competition that got a zillion hits, became a meme, and the person in question quit college and became a YouTuber for a living. I wonder how much YouTube pays per zillion hits...

my mate played reserves at adelaide blue eagles years back and had no idea why i played fifa. "why don't you go outside and play soccer lol" was the response, to which i'd say "i can't just go outside and play with 10 teammates as liverpool against 11 other people". i would ask him why he doesn't just join the army instead of playing call of duty. so basically people watch competitive gaming for the same reason they might watch footy, cos they know the game, they grew up playing it and they're in awe of people who are a million times better.

i hate those youtubers who do lets plays though, i don't get lets plays, i get viewing a walkthrough if you're really ****ed in a hard game but i don't get following someone playing a game all the way through

Strange band. Gone from deathcore where they were hated, to releasing a ****ing incredible album in Sempiternal to releasing an album that sounds like a soft b side linkin park record.

I watched a doco on StarCraft.

As ridiculous as it sounds there is a drop off of skill after one reaches their mid 20s.

One's concentration or reaction time peaks in their late teens/early 20s (at least in these sort of games), so if you're 30 or over you don't compete since you're slower than other players. You either coach or commentate to stay involved in the scene by that age.

Boomer Harvey would be ****ed pretty much.

Watching someone do something better than you isn't the worst I guess.

My 9,7 and 2 year olds got caught watching YouTube on the TV, of a grown woman playing with barbie, Disney, spongebob and other genres, making up stories putting on voices etc and the kids were loving it.

Gave them 5 mins to find the same barbie Disney etc toys and start making their own stories before I threw them out.

Needless to say they still have their toys but know to never watch those videos again. Parenting in 2016.....

Great story on Oz Story tonight about Wallaby David Pocock escaping from Zimbabwe as a kid when Mugabe took the country backwards and stole land off white farmers and gave it to "freedom fighters" from the 1970's battle for independence and took the country backwards 200 years, as so much productive land now produces bugger all food. You get a better sense of why he gets involved in political causes and why ARU officials don't really know how to handle him because he's a great player who has a real brain and a deep conscience and cant sit back and allow crap to happen unquestioned. 2nd part is on next week.
