To overcook the corner and lock the wheels is one thing and somewhat forgivable, but then to protect the racing line whilst travelling at half the speed was a real campaigner act. Glad they penalised him.

Not even the Clintons have that much mud, and they've also been dragged through it constantly for 30 years and have never made a habit of failing.

(You've got to hand it to the Washington Post for their timing; the video comes out immediately before Hillary's banking industry wikileak, so the latter gets lost in the noise. They brought down Nixon, now they're helping to defuse Trump before he even happens.)

Trump is behind and losing ground in the top 11 most important swing states. Two weeks ago I was a little worried, not now. Pussygate is just the cherry on top.

He should be gone but people that do still support Donald are the kind of people who are going to be motivated to actually show up to vote who might not with another candidate. His supporters may be nuts but enough of them show and enough of Hillarys support is apathetic it can still be close.

On the one hand, the fact that Trump’s support was so low to begin with could presumably mitigate the damage to him. If you’re only getting 40 percent of the vote, the voters you do have are probably pretty committed to you — and Trump has some passionate supporters.

On the other hand, the fact that Trump has only 40 percent of the vote means that the downside for him is awfully far down. What if he doesn’t win over any undecideds, and 40 percent turns out to be more of a ceiling than a floor? Trump’s unfavorable rating was approaching 60 percent even before the “hot mic” tape surfaced, which means he was already running into a headwind in terms of picking up additional support. Furthermore, he’s targeted a narrow slice of the electorate instead of a majority coalition. He doesn’t have much of a ground game to turn out his marginal voters, and, especially if he’s losing in the polls, they could decide that it just isn’t worth the time to vote.
