I liked both.

TFA was enjoyable and well presented with live sets rather than cgi over reliance. the similarities to A New Hope do grate a bit though

R1 was great as it was another trip into the Star Wars universe and gave back story to key events. Somewhat more so than the prequel trilogy did

Don't understand how some think the TFA characters are better than R1 characters. Understand other reasons why they like TFA more even if I don't agree, but not that one.

Count the number of characters in R1 that aren't desert dwelling dystopian rebels... where were all the funky aliens and quirky side characters?

Even the token cute robot was bland. Especially compared to BB-8

The worst thing about Rogue One was the characters being void of personality. Ironically the one with the most character was a robot. Ip Man second to him.

R1 has had an amazing turnaround in public perception from the trailers/casting announcements.

- Both Rebellion and Empire being loaded with WHITE GUYS outside the main characters probably does that.
- There were only maybe 4 speaking parts for women that I noticed (Jyn, Mum, The General In White, A Pilot)
- Jyn Erso neatly undermined as female lead because she's only important because of her dad.
