The real stuff, not the diet rubbish - unquestionably the best off-the-shelf soft drink in the known cosmos. I drink it daily with gusto. No, it hasn't turned me into a diabetic, and no it hasn't made me fat, (I'm the same weight I was when I was 19...and that's an aeon ago).

Oh, and to all the you-can-use-coke-as-an-engine-degreaser-so-it-must-be-killing-you-it-eats-your-stomach-away flat earthers', your stomach acid will eat away the ****ing engine itself. Think about that.:D:D

Anyhoo, these slogans can't be wrong.

  • 1961 - "Be refreshed"
  • 1964 - "Things go better with Coke"
  • 1972 - "It's the real thing"
  • 1977 - "Coke adds life"
  • 1980 - "Smile"
  • 1982 - "Coke is it!"
  • 1989 - "You Can't Beat the Feeling"
  • 1993 - "Always Coca-Cola"
  • 2000 - "Enjoy"
  • 2001 - "Life tastes good"
  • 2004 - "Real"
  • 2005 - "As it should be"
  • 2007 - "The Coke side of life"
  • 2008 - "Real taste. Uplifting refreshment"
  • 2010 - "Open Happiness"
  • 2011 - "Share A Coke"
  • 2013 - "Real Taste. Uplifting Refreshment"
  • 2016 - "Taste The Feeling"
Glad to assist:D
Yeah I always laugh when I see stories about Coke being so acidic.

But the sugar is a real issue.

I remember years ago working in WA 1 of my direct mangers was gay. He once told me that women were ok, but not as good as "the real thing". I don't think he was talking about Coke though.

On another note, I am struggling to make a connection between the thread title and the OP. Did the thread get derailed before it even started?

Nothing wrong with a diet coke every now and then. At least we know hes following a strict diet. The amounts of water he'd be consuming daily means he probably just pisses it out within minutes.

Are we sure he’s buying that for himself... how do we know his missus or his housemate (I don’t know who he lives with or if he has a missus) is the diet coke fan...
No, of course we're not. It's just a funny photo to be in the newspaper anyway.

Found best way to stop coke (drank it by the cans everyday)... was sparkling water... same sort of fizz... put some lime in your set
I've done that recently.

The impact Aspartame has on the brain and serotonin levels is the concern.

Steer clear of this stuff.

Studies have shown there is no link between aspartame and any neurological symptoms or effects.

The dangers of aspartame and other sweeteners are commonly held misconceptions with no scientific support

Coke is poison too.

I am now 936 days without Coke... i miss it, but yum it was so good
Well done. I only drink cold water these days. Ocassionally I will add a small amount of lime cordial but I dont need coke or any fizzy drink for that matter. I also managed to give up the cigs and havent had one for 34 years. It was possibly the smartest thing I every did.

Phenylalanine in the brain doesn't decrease serotonin levels? Maybe I'm wrong.

I have around 1-4 glasses of sugar-filled soft drink per week - usually chinotto. I'm lucky enough not to have weight problems and I don't believe the amount I drink is harmful. I'm also practically a non-drinker (I'll have 2-5 drinks socially once a month or so).

I doubt an AFL player's on-field performance would be materially impacted by a non-calotic soft drink. We forget that CEY has never really made it as an AFL footballer anyway.

My friend drank lots of Diet Coke, he gained all the symptoms of MS and was on a pretty ugly downward spiral. He eventually stopped his intake of Diet Coke and within a month he was back to normal, fact! Everyone is free to eat and drink what they want but I stay clear of these processed chemicals as far as possible.

Coke did have traces of the real stuff in it in the very early days, before the US Drug and Food Administration finally found out what was in factor X, their secret ingredient. The company was in the poo about it from memory.

You could get a high by putting a Bex into one of their bottles. I believe they used to be about 500ml in the new money.
