It really doesn't matter what people will now say

It does. The info that's coming out is info that's coming from close to the club, it's not like some "press release" from the club to "make themselves look good" (an ulterior motive thought up by you with no evidence).

was not a rebuild.

It was and it was pretty obvious to me and others before more info came to light due to the changes we were making in regards to our list turnover, protective approach to draft picks and cultural and long-term expectations when it comes to contracts, etc. The extra info just confirms it and we go by info not feelings.

Houli was constantly overlooked. Worked with a close friend of his and he wanted out so bad.
Houli's Richmond success never particularly hurt. We needed him to be a midfielder, because for 20 years it's basically been a midfield problem here. He left...and didn't become a midfielder. It's not like we didn't have our own good flankers when Houli was at Richmond. Problem is, we didn't have a good team. It would have hurt if he turned into a good midfielder

I can't comment too much on Voss, I didn't watch him in the VFL. He kicked 23 goals in 20 games before today though and got subbed out last week for doing next to nothing in a game Freo needed to win. Good for him for having a day out, hopefully it continues, but I dunno, I'd wait another season or so before grabbing the cyanide pills

Funnily enough, I recall talk of wanting him to be a midfielder when we drafted him...

See, what you're doing is copium. You dont want to admit you were wrong, so denying you care as a way to get the juice that you need to cope with.
Not really. But you do you boo
You don't go 21 years without even winning a final without almost absolutely everything about a club being rotten. I know we're taking strides to fix it, but the scars from those years still remain both metaphorically and in the form of list cloggers. The Mass one stings in particular because we have a mutual friend and I've heard that we handled the negotiations even worse than what the media has reported.

Maybe Voss never amounts to nothing if he stays, yet in a season's worth of games has shown more than Harry Jones has his whole career, who we somehow thought was worthy of a two-year contract.
See I'm aware of the fact that our club has had many things wrong with it.

I just don't think this one hurts. Well done to him. One game doesn't make me lose sleep

I watched Houli’s last game for us. 24 possessions and two goals and he was one of our best. My Saints mate was even raving about him. Next week he gets dropped by clueless Matthew Knights.

Voss is not the first and will not be the last player who knuckles down and makes something of a lifeline after not being the most professional as far as preparation / lifestyle / attitude goes.
Good on him. Has worked hard to make something from a second chance.

Difference.
When Jones was told to pull his head in he knuckled down and set about ticking all the boxes.

Voss was asked to do the same but continued on the same way . Now at Fremantle and on his final chance he is also ticking off all the boxes.

I do think signing Jones was an error but Voss was a very loose cannon when we had him and if he did not change his tune when Fremantle offered him a lifetime he would have been playing outside the AFL.

You're engaging in a logical fallacy known as an appeal to authority.

what’s 2026’s draft meant to look like? better or worse. i know berwick is coming through via f/s, but any other big names not tied to NGA, father son etc
It's pretty fluid, I mean even this draft is starting to look better as the weeks go by, at least that's the gist you get when reading new phantom form guides.

It’s the same people on this forum that just continue to defend the club, in the face of the indefensible. We delist a firebrand in Voss who has energy, aggression, presence. Imagine having him playing alongside Caddy?? Yet we have listless spuds like Wright & Jones instead.

Another comical EFC list decision.

People are giving themselves the cat of nine tails about Voss in three separate threads on this board right now.

I know we’re a miserable bunch and we have our reasons, but Jesus Christ.
We only let Jesus go because at the time we were flush with third tall defenders and there were questions about his attitude (Thought he was god. Preferred wine to water. Kept company with prostitutes. Upturned tables in the temple, anyone?)

Credit to him he went on to make something of himself elsewhere, but it wouldn't have been the case had he stayed in our development program.

Is it? Or is it just the annual cycle of draft gronks getting fizzed up over highlights packages

Can all of you take the voss takes to the voss thread and let the rest of us develop in the pies losing like normal people? Not everything has to have an essendon lense to it, you are allowed to just enjoy footy sometimes too.

Massimo left at the end of 2023.

Voss left at the end of 2023.

Dodoro left at the end of 2024.

Maybe the constant complaints can also be taken over to the Dodo thread...

Late season, matches getting more important, kids starting to put big performances in and show what they're capable of, club supporters getting more invested as for many their season's chances of finals are now over.

Probably all part of it, I'm sure plenty of good players will be drafted in the 50-60 odd that are taken, hope our team pick the lights out.
